I was wondering which player takes the most shots in this offence?
I run it most of the time but find that sometimes my PG takes the most shots, sometimes it is the SG and other times it is the SF.
Just wondering if any of you know, or have an opinion on, which position is best to place your best shooter, second best shooter and third best shooter.

Typically, the player who has the best match-up on offense will take most of the shots. That's not always your best shooter.

"I don't know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve."

To be honest, my best shooter does play at Point Guard, he just gets very unlucky most of the time.

Calling him my best shooter is based on player skills, not percentage of shots or anything.
Best Shooter/PG = 9 JS, 7 JR
2nd Best Shooter/SG = 8 JS, 7 JR
3rd Best Shooter/SF = 8 JS, 3 JR

Well, technicality there. I play my player that I do at SF because I want to have a safe way to back up my guards from the bench; I could put a much better shooter there than 8 JS and 3 JR, 8 JS 5 JR,5 JS and 8 JR, 6 JS 7 JR, etc. but he's there because more often than not I face an inside offense and he has good ID compared to the rest of my options.

And vice, that's about right from what I've seen- PG's will sometimes have a better OD than SG's, and the SG's will be able to play offense better against a lower OD.

So which position do you think (PG, SG or SF) is normally guarded with the most outside defence?
So which one of those players normally has the most outside defence in your experience?
Or does it vary too much from team to team?

Also, assuming that the opponents player at PG, SG and SF are all exactly the same, and all my players at those positions are exactly the same as each other except for JS and JR. Which position would take the most shots?
I.e. if the matchup was the same at every position, does any position take more shots by default?

It varies from team to team; I mean, my PG's have the most OD, followed by SG's, then my SF's and Pf's have about the same OD, heaven knows why, and Centers the least. I've seen teams where the Sg's have more than Pg's, and teams where the SF's far outmatch the rest of the team, and have better OD. It just depends on the team.

If you asked me, I'd say that in a Run and Gun offense with the same matchups at every position, the Shooting Guards would take a couple more shots than the Point Guards, and the Small Forwards would have the least shots. But that's just an assumption from what I've seen.

I would think that it varies greatly from team to team...Especially in a DII league, I think (if they're playing M2M) that their best defender is normally going to try to match up with your best perceived shooter since we can change defensive match-ups these days..
