i think that would push basketball a lot in europe. do i understand right?, a european team could win nba championship? or is it just for division title?

I wouldn't worry about that. Basketball is much more popular Worldwide than American football.

there's a small difference: in europe, nobody gives a damn about american football. :)


At one point in time, basketball was mostly a game played in YMCA's throughout the US and Canada. Eventually it became popular worldwide.

That's not to say it will happen with American football, but I'm sure the NFL thinks its can expand its interests/viewership/merchandising overseas.

true basketball is much more popular then football, the compare was just of course that nba wants to do that, i mean we have own leagues as well, i mean and i dont know nobody following MLS to give you another compare ;)

anyway i would like it, but 5 brandnew teams who and where is the other question.

The chances that american football has in Europe are the same as Football(soccer) has in the US, the MLS is bound to have the same destiny as european NFL...

Its not just about launching an NFL league in Europe...I'm guessing from past experiments that the NFL realizes that its not really that viable. However, I do think they want to substantially grow their revenues streams by taking it global. Much like the premier league is taking about playing overseas matches now.
