for training purposes you need 48"+" minutes to get 100% training for the player in the "training position". I prefer to do this all in one go in one game, but some may do this over 2 or 3 games during the week.

GS is a separate consideration for all players includng your trainees.
For my trainee i tend to play one whole game, then sub in another game which gives approx 60minutes and sometimes more. (but i use a common set up for the coach and line up which is good at guaranteeing 1 quarter for subs)

if you think you will lose a game regardless of how hard you try, then you could play "take it easy" to build your enthusiasm. If you do this a few times enthusiasm grows up towards and over 10. this, along with good game shape across your players will mean you can compete in games that you wouldnt thought possible.

And on prices for your arena, you can change them whenever you like, but they will only take effect at certain times of the season... it will be another few weeks until the prices are updated andyou can see the effect of them on attendance. the exact date is shown on your arena screen

Yeah I think I would prefer to start my trainees in the two league games and then rest them completely for the scrimmage/Cup. If I had a chance of winning a Cup game then I might look at that differently, but surely going to get hammered in Round 1.

The enthusiasm is certainly something I am going to have to experiment with. It seems like it might have a far bigger impact, (if used correctly), than I had anticipated.

Yeah I read about that. I have changed them now, (only slightly), and will just see how it goes. The change doesn't kick-in until 29th November so fingers crossed that I haven't got it completely wrong.

Big thing for the next few days is to actually analyse the players that I have and see if I have been playing in the correct positions. I know that there is a list somewhere which details which attributes are a priority and which are of secondary importance for each position but although I have seen it before, I can't find it now. Would one of you mind linking me to it please. It's only a guess, but I would expect to have some serious issues in a few positions. While I won't be able to solve this immediately, it should at least allow me to predict where I might struggle/do well in matches and plan accordingly.

[Edit]

Don't worry. Found it now.

Ok guys.

Having a few problems with training.

I have been following a training plan for my star player Andy Quite. I got him a couple of pops in passing and then the plan was for me just to rotate between JS, JR & OD, (he's a PG).

Now last week was the 1st JS week so he popped in JS as expected, (as did 2 others). The question I have is that one of my average players popped in JR rather than JS. Is this just because some training areas have a cross-over effect into other training areas and because he was at a low level it was enough to pop him?

I'm just a bit concerned that i am doing something wrong.

This week I am moving onto JR and other than Andy Quite, what I am trying to do is even out a few players who might be lacking in that area. (so poor JR in a position that needs JR). The problem here is that's exactly what I was trying to do last week. The player that popped in JR didn't need a pop in that at all, but I was really keen for him to pop in JS. That it worked in reverse has made him even more unbalanced. :(

Now I know that I am only a new team and as such I have many players like this. It's not a huge deal because I am only now starting to get to grips with the game, (and especially training), but I really don't want to me making things worse. Was I just unlucky that McCleary popped in JR rather than JS, or is there something I am doing wrong. McCleary obviously will NOT be getting trained this week now that I have rotated onto JR.

Thanks in advance and apologies if the above is a bit muddled.

ps Andy Quite (19583249) now looks like this.

Jump Shot: prominent↑(10) Jump Range: strong(8)
Outside Def.: prominent(10) Handling: proficient(9)
Driving: strong(8) Passing: proficient(9)
Inside Shot: average(6) Inside Def.: average(6)
Rebounding: respectable(7) Shot Blocking: strong(8)
Stamina: proficient(9) Free Throw: inept(4)
Experience: pitiful(2)

Hi

Yeah JS has a minor effect on JR, HA and DR and then of course there is also an small percentage going to one of your weakest stats if you are training a primary.

Training JR also teaches JS, HA, DR

You may be able to set a more concise training schedule if you take in to account when a secondary is about to pop.

i would focus on Quite getting the training he needs and using your other trainees to sponge up the remaining minutes. (Ideally in weeks where you one position train, 3 trainess @ 48 mins, or in weeks where you two position train like for JS then up to 6 at 48 mins).

if your other trainees get unexpected side pops this is a good thing not a bad thing!
On JR, my view is that getting a player up to sensational or tremendous is perfect. Above that is the realm of pure SGs and a debate whether the extra JS costs more than it is worth.
Plus JR is quite slow to increase so there are ways to make JS catch up and overtake JR if that is what you are worried about.

i doubt that you will make them any more unbalanced because you will be giving quite, and therefore your other trainees, a fairly balanced schedule of training.

so keep up the good work and dont worry too much about those bonus pops. just enjoy them as they are not that common.

:)

Thanks guys.

I was getting a bit confused with Gameshape, (but at least I understand now). I thought that you needed to get as close to 48 minutes as possible but by going over by the least possible. Instead now I know that there is a window of 48-72 mins which I need to hit. That makes much more sense.

Yeah Quite is the priority at the moment and I am really just making a bit of a hash of the others I think. There does seem to be improvement within the team though so maybe I am somehow blundering in the right direction. Just had a decent little win against a team with 6 players with a higher wage than my highest wage, (so quite chuffed).

Gameshape does seem to be a factor in that recent win, (but also Enthusiasm which is still a bit of a grey area).

Slowly but surely getting there I think.

You are definitely going in the right direction. Id aim for 60-72 minutes, but 48 is fine as a minimum.
Perhaps when you finish this seasonthink about setting some goals for your team. Perhaps a financial goal, an arena goal , league position, cup round, buying a certain wage player at a certain position. You can balance them up and se if they make sense. Then go for it :) before you know it you ll be winning more, making more money and will be in the EBL! Ok well one step at a time...

Yeah thanks Fluff.

I have already set myself a few targets for this season, (quite a few actually), and I have hit some already.

I have a new question now I'm afraid though.

This week I should be training in OD but I'm not sure what area covers this and I can't find it in the help guide, (but am still looking). I am guessing it is either shot blocking or pressure maybe. Can anyone shed some light on this before next week.

Thanks in advance.

[Edit]

Cancel that. Just found it and it's pressure. Ok. Something else learned then.

Hi guys. Sorry to bug you but I have another couple of questions.

This week is All Star week so there are obviously only 2 games rather than the normal 3.

I know that this impacts on training and I plan on swapping to either Free Throws or Stamina for this week only. Is that sensible?

The other thing is Gameshape. How does only 2 games impact upon that and if Quite plays in the All Star game, (he did last year), then will that be counted towards his game time? At the moment my gameshape is much improved with only 1 problem player and he is a recent signing. I am planning to just rotate all starters to Backups and then the Reserves will just have to deal with it. Any other suggestions?

Lastly, how does the voting for the All Star results work? At the moment the PG voting is as follows.

Great 8
Point Guard
Player Votes
Ken McMillan 45191
Átila Godinho 21579
Julián Bustos 10377
Andy Guite 3362

I normally train stamina or FT this week, but if you are in the early ages of training player i have say go for the one position training which will allow you to still keep your gs for your starters and take advantage of the quicker speed factor for a rookie, i dont think the all star game counts in terms of gs minutes, U21 games dont count towards GS.

The top two players make the team, in this case Mcmillan and Godinho.
