Home grown players already give you a boost in merchandising. To me this is like the discount you speak of.

Not if they're scrubs or young trainees. And how much? 1k? 2k? My 280k PG only gives 20k extra merchandising compared to a similar local player. All that hard work just for a 20k? Not enough IMHO.

I mean the one I sold off. Another local team got him and a few of us in the Malaysian community were curious of the merchandise difference (comparing a drafted NT player and a bought local NT player) so we asked for the merchandise increase of that team at the first economic update. Turned out to be just 20k difference with mine.

roughly 7% isn't bad, especially if you consider that he also get the "homecountry" bonus. Also i noticed always an increase in emrchandising the first three week after i bough a new key player.

They do but I think long term players should

What you are referring to here is a different suggestion alltogether. It is more to do the assimilation of foreign players to be local players rather than the fact they were local players to begin with.

Wouldn't Zoltan Bui still be a Monkey if he was giving you $20,000 a week merchandising for having been on your team for so long?

Nope. :) He was 29 and the value of players start dropping quite rapidly once they hit the big 3-0 which was just a few weeks away.

I've heard some people say that merchandising on NT players are so little that it's insignificant. But you get close to 30% of merchandise increase, and that is not a bad figure in my opinion.

Well it would be a great thing if someone made a study of it but I know the amount of merchandising you get is affected by three things.

1) You get a lot merchandising if the player is playing for your NT, the amount you get for playing for a foreign team is trivial.

2) The salary of the player, this is especially affected by U21 players who often have fairly low salaries so the boost is low.

3) How much the player played for the NT in the previous week. So if he got a DNPCD or 5 minutes you get nothing or so little it is trivial.

So if you have a $100,000 player starring for your local NT you will get a massive boost, Kynlala Knights, Smeltz Troopers and Western Titans had this. If you had a $20,000 playing moderate minutes for the U21 team you get a small boost, this was me. If you have low salaried players playing for a foreign team you get very little, I remember discussing this with a team that had three foreign NT players but was still below league average in merchandising.

I am not wanting then to be assimiliated or be treated like one of your draft picks but after being there for so long there should be a 4th category of bonus for "long term players". Remember the glory days of the Melbourne Tigers with Gaze, Bradtke and Copeland? Copeland was just as loved as the other two because he stuck around so long and was such an exciting player.

Vallo Tammella: This player has been on your team for 821 days. He has also won four championships with me.
Kallen Matakorama - This player has been on your team for 29 days. A random scrub to fill minutes.

Yet my fans under the current system will be buying more Kallen T-Shorts? Madness!
