Manon said it all. If you want to even try getting 48, try to follow some of the rules the guys wrote in the "Wrong formation/enthusiasm used" thread (26712.1) like setting a player on all three depths (starter, backup, reserve), filling up all other positions and making sure there are no "free" players in the roster.

Not sure you got the point. The Engine is not BUILT to give you guaranteed 48 Minutes. So it´s not a bug if it doesnt.

In my last game I set the lineup like this:

P1 / P1 / P1
P2 / P2 / P2
P3 / P6 / P8
P4 / P7 / P9
P5 / P7 / P10

With "Strictly Follow Depth Chart"
At the start of the 4th the coach switched the lineup to P8, P9, P6, P7, P10 and my two trainees missed out on 12 minutes each. I suspected it would be a blowout so I set some scrub reserves to sponge up some minutes. The coach totally ignored my setup.

In my last game I set the lineup like this:

P1 / P1 / P1
P2 / P2 / P2
P3 / P6 / P8
P4 / P7 / P9
P5 / P7 / P10

When garbage time hits, the coach will put in any reserve or backup he can. So P6 goes in to replace P3, and P7 will replace one of the PF/C, and there are three more players P8, P9 and P10 who are not starters. They'll replace whatever starter they can.

To have the best chance of 48 minutes at the PG and SG position, you can dress no more than 8 players, and should set a lineup like this:

P1 - P1 - P1
P2 - P2 - P2
P3 - P6 - P6
P4 - P7 - P7
P5 - P8 - P8

Thanks for that. I usually set 8 players or less, but I wanted to cut down the minutes of my big men in this game. Would "Coach picks from depth chart" have given me 48 minutes for my guards?

Have had the best luck with not setting any reserves and ensuring that each of the non-48 min starters has their own separate backup:

P1 - P1
P2 - P6
P3 - P7
P4 - P8
P5 - P9

Any time i set reserves is seems to mess things up, esp when you have a center playing PG, or PG playing C (someone way out of position).

I still think its a bug when in the last min or so, after 46-47 mins of everything going perfect, the GE decides to sub someone like P1 out of the game. It'd make more sense if it did it when it went to blowout, but after up to 10-11 mins of blowout and then sub, that makes no rational sense.

That is incorrect im sure , not once when i set my lineup using the correct protocols did i fail to get 48mins on my desired trainee. Only when i made a mess of the lineup or the trainee fouled out did he not get 48mins no matter the score.
The protocols i follow are something like this ,

This is 9 letters so 9 players. Notice how there is no positions left blank and there should be exactly 9 names players in the lineup. It is also possible to have other players play 48 mins as well by taking another player out the lineup and having the other player cover his backup and reserve position.

This post is not directed to you Manon as i know you have extensive knowledge of this game and will already know this.

What im saying is you cant be too complicated with your lineup and expect 48mins , it needs to be very basic like the depth chart i showed above.
