Hello,

Does somebody use 2-3 zone in important games? I checked recent NT and U21 finals and semifinals, also B3 last rounds, but didn't see 2-3 zone anywhere. Is it broken so much ? What are the reasons that this defensive strategy is one of the least popular?

The only defenses, not broken, are m2m, 3-2, and the Box + 1 (when you have the right builds)

2-3 is busted, 1-3-1 is such a chop shop joke of a D I can't understand why its still an option, and Full Court Press no one has cracked yet how to make it effective.

Is it true height does not Matter in the game?. In real life zones are based on height and wing span. 1-3-1 sound like it can work with OD and Id evened out in defensive skills from what guide says about it. Would this be correct thinking or just wild assumptions on my end.

Height only matters in terms of the speed at which a player trains.

2-3 doesn't give any advantage against inside tactics. Against oustide tactics, it's almost instant death, as you're unable to defend 3-pointers and jumpers. With teams at equal level, it's not uncommon to suffer 15-20 point lose just due to using 2-3.

This season i played 2-3 in my first PO final match. That was very useful to contain his big guys. But i think that works because of good prediction and because his shooters weren't so good.

I think your division level has a lot to do with it...The higher up you go, the more 2-3 zone fails...The only time 2-3 can work in higher divisions is when there is a huge talent gap between the two teams.

I think it's interesting because when playing 2-3 your rebounds go up, which totally makes sense based on having 3 bigs in or around the paint...but what does not make sense at all is that offensive rebounding also goes up when playing 2-3 zone which to me, shows a fundamental flaw in the coding of this broken tactic.

Your last part about offensive rebounds in 2-3 zone. How true is that when 2-3 zone is played with a fast pace offensive attack. Lets say for example run &gun. What would be the offensive rebound spread advantage ratio. For example 2-1 or 3-2 in ratio versus the opponent etc.

*Meaning for every 2 offensive rebounds I create the opponent gets 1.How true is that overall regardless of skills , or what is the common spread advantage?*. If its Ok to ask

Question? Do players train in the pre-set tactics choosen toward the day of the game. Since theres a Gdp skill assessment of getting ready to face certain tactic?..

It's always okay to ask :-)

I am not sure I see a relationship though....Because when I set my defense to play 2-3 zone, and in that moment(s) when I on defense playing 2-3 zone, it makes no difference what offense I am running after the change of possession...or to look at it in reverse...how or why would my offensive rebounds be affected by what defensive set I was using 20 seconds ago on the other end of the court while playing defense?

In basketball you can't play offensive and defense at the same time...now, your defense can indeed fuel your offensive attack...but even still...if I play a 2-3 zone with a mindset of getting more defensive rebounds so I can ignite my fast break attack; that defensive philosophy or plan has no impact down on the other end of the court attempting to rebound one of my own misses. And using this example of RnG as the compliment to 2-3 zone, it makes even less sense that offensive rebounds would increase...Because RnG has almost the opposite effect of 2-3 zone, because in RnG everyone fly's down the court, and takes the first available shot...there is not a designed post presence, and often bigs are are on the wing looking for their shot instead of going down low...so this even further illustrates the silliness of offensive rebounds increasing in 2-3 zone because you'd probably have less guys in or around the paint on offense going for rebounds.

Of course, the RnG illustration is just one example, but again, like I first said, the offense and defensive game plans wouldn't really affect each other as far as rebounding on each end of the court...so the offensive tactic doesn't really matter anyway.

No. Just the position they are set at in the lineup.

The tactical choices are basically just mathematical formulas (functions) churning out results based off the numbers of all the players at each position and all their skills times/divided by the multipliers and coefficients within the function.

In the guide it says you lose a small bit of ability if you guess wrong. Is this true. Also thank you for the reply
