With that, the coach will follow the depth chart for C/PF/SF except for SG/PG where he gets to decide? He won't do anything like a put a SG as SF even though you didn't put that guy on the SF depth chart? If yes and the coach only plays guys as PG/SG that were not on that SF/PF/C depth chart, then that is a complete deviation for the complete blank lineup strategy from before. I though I only need to put three starters and it'll all be the same like before where the coach effectively makes appropriate substitution patterns.

Full blank lineups don't work anymore. He will follow the depth chart for the SF-C positions with that setup. The coach may occasionally place a backup SF at SG some minutes if they are suited for it, but for the majority of the minutes, it should play out like a balanced minute attack between the 4-5 guards you have set up to be in the blanked spots.

There is no longer a complete blank lineup strategy that works well, like seasons ago.

Yeah I figured that having less than three starters is a walkover. I just thought having 3 guys to start and leaving everything else blank will work pretty much the same as having a completely blank lineup from the past. Thanks for the wisdom!!!

Is there any benefit to having two positions blank and LCD? That way was extremely powerful in the past, so wonder if there is still 40% of that boost with 2/5 blank, or not really

I think it is more helpful in NT and U21 games where you have 4-5 players closer in skill level. For traditional club teams, generally the starters you have are substantially better than the backups, so you want your starters playing more minutes. The idea behind blanking 2 spots is that you get a better balance of minutes between all the players and it will boost ratings slightly because the instant one guy is getting tired, there are 2-3 other guys that can sub in for him instead of just one option. Along with this, it gets more combinations of players playing together and the coach can decide the best two players for the 4th quarter and for end game minutes. I think blanking two spots is much more common and effective for U21 and NT.
