As a rule of thumb go for massage of you have an unbalanced team with starters who are way better than the backups (unless you can get garbage time every week, your starters will play too many minutes if they start 2 games)

So you think that if starters play too much minutes (than the optimal ones) it is necessary to have a doctor massage.

. The psychologist will help regardless, because part of the GS is still down to luck, but of course it is more useful with teams that can't hit optimal minute ranges consistently.

While if you have a consistently range between played minutes and optimal minutes it is more useful a psychologist.
Is it correct?

It's not mandatory, I'm just saying that's what Massage specialty is for.

A psychologist will improve the GS compared to what you'd have had without him, so he will improve any player who would have not been at 9 GS if you didn't have him.

Massage Doctor helps players stay in better shape when they play too many minutes.

Sports Psychologist helps players stay in and get to better shape when they're in a good minutes range and just gives them an additional boost.

That's as simple as I can explain it and I think gets the point across in a basic way.

Get both.

I remember, used to have around 8.2-8.3 average GS season long (not counting first 2weeks), with alittle bit constantly overplaying players 80 mins each week.

With both i think it is possible to average around 8.5-8.6. That is pretty huge, overall using 2nd season lvl 5 psychologist, very happy with the results.

Loot at the situation from other perspective: would you pay 15k (psychologist salary) to get 1 player per week at 9 game shapre instead of 8; i think that is the overall difference. And the more expensive and important players are, and the more competetive leage, basicly it means few wins per season, playoffs/no playoffs and promotions versus boiling in your own juices in the same league next season.

The problem is the difficulty to knowing which are the good minutes for a player.

For example I think a player with 9 GS should play more than 65 minutes a week. So if he plays 75/80 minutes a week , should I get a doctor massage or a Psychologist to keep up the game shape?

I ask because it is not an obvious different between two specialists.

Current game shape doesn’t impact how many minutes a player can play every week.. Are you talking about stamina? Players with more stamina can get away with slightly more minutes every week and stay in the optimal range, but for the most part 50-70 minutes is still ideal.

If you are consistently having some players play over 75 minutes, the massage doctor will 100% be the better option for you in my opinion. If you are like me and micro manage minutes every week to stay around 60, then the sports psychologist is better.

If you go look at my rosters gameshape you’ll notice that everyone is in 9 GS right now. They’ve all had optimal minutes the last 3 weeks and I have a level 4 sports psychologist and no massage doctor because I believe the sports psychologist helps my team and minutes better.

You solve the problem suggesting to get both

Which of the two specialists do you suggest if all starting-five played 75/80 minutes a week (8/9 stamina everyone) ?
It will be my situation for next season.

I'll take the psychologist, BUT the doctor is also rather inexpensive in that just get whatever level you currently have but with the specialty. Massage doctors are slightly more expensive than their no-specialty counterparts, but it's not massive. Think about it this way: if you have imperfect minutes the psychologist will definitely help as it's unlikely you will have many players naturally reaching 9 GS (you can't go higher than that). Massage may help but you'd need 80+ minutes for it to show it's worth probably. I think 8-9 ST players should play at least 70 minutes anyway given the changes to GS.

I'm slightly uneasy about Massage after the change as in your case what would happen with 75 minutes and 9 ST player? Does Massage kick in and artificially lower the Minutes for the purpose of the training update calculation? Say it works by reducing the 75 to 70 or 65, this may be perfect for a 6 ST player but it may be detrimental for this 9 ST player.

I finally understand, thank you!

That's right, taking the massage to reduce the minutes could be counterproductive for 9 GS players.
But I sincerely hope that's not the case, and that the creators of the game have solved this problem.

I doubt it's that way, I have an 8 stamina player that kept 9 GS for just about the whole season and with massage doctor and lvl 6 sports psychologist. The player often only played exactly 48 minutes per week as they were a trainee

I believe that there is a hidden attitude for Game Shape and it is almost impossible to manage it.

What is your experience with Game Shape?
