it rewards the managers who make the correct adjustments with the extra knowledge and punishes those who fail to do so. if so inclined i could calculate the stats manually (and will do just that if i reach the finals in my league this year), but anything that saves time is good.

It is only my personal opinion - that making small differences between team's attitude creates zero options in the tactic creativity. (Hattrick rule)
I don't think that is healthy to create an opportunity to decide on pure statistical facts, while statistics are in Buzzerbeater very, very questionable point.

In short - If you will implement such a thing, you will put psychologically more influence to such a thing than it has to be, because you in fact doesn't know all influences which creates statistics, so you can and you will be failed by yourself.

I agree totally with Gunner here. I don't see any disadvantages—nor advantages either for that matter—with having the stats available. I too have done this manually—with interesting results—but I don't believe it would be that hard for BB to do it. One of Gunner's points can be shown by thinking of some college teams. Because they play such a slowdown offense—think U. of Wisconsin—their defense ppg is very low. Now, are they that good defenders—maybe yes, maybe no—or is simplky a function of a very slow offense. Other stats are possibly mor telling. E.g.. what %age of 3FG made by your opponents might confirm (or not) how good your OD is. Many other stats—number of FTS, rebounding margin, total fouls, etc—give a manger some nice info...Pappy

A point to consider in this discussion is at what point do we simply make all the data freely available and let someone else come up with a site to crunch all these numbers? Although some calculations aren't expensive, it does take a considerable amount of resources to keep the site optimized and running well as we grow. Theoretically this is a simple calculation, and certainly the computer could do it, but if we added many such calculations our servers would begin to clog down....

anyway.. im not trying to argue we can't do this for load issues.. but i'm wondering if its better to just invest our efforts in the publicly available interface, given our limited development resources.

edit: i would also point out that with a little perl scripting this information could already be automatically pulled from the site.

Thanks for your prompt reply. I think that you point out some pertinent info, not the least of which is the growing number of managers who play this great game. And so I yield to your—and the other BB developers—good judgment on this point. I believe that you ARE right—there are other greater priorities. Thanks again...Pappy
