Thanks a lot for the numbers and the explenation. I hope more people will start training PA on big men as I think it's both very efficient and effective.

Sorry if I'm being really stupid but I'm lost on how to use this, I would greatly appreciate it if you explain to me. Also, does it work on a mac?

So, a number of folks have asked me for help in using the spreadsheet. Rather than try to do this on a piecemeal basis, I just uploaded some more helpful instructions imbedded into the training simulator. If you download it again, they will be there for you to read.

Also, if you can't see everything in a cell, adjust the cell height or width until you can read it (by dragging the dividers at the top or at the left hand side).

If you're still having trouble, send me a bb-mail and we'll try to get it figured out.

BTW, created it on a mac, so it should work on a mac.

hmm...

It should work if you go into the "file" menu and select "download" instead of using the "download" button.

Very nice tool here, but.. I found a mistake in your salary calculator.. Or I do not know something.. Those numbers suggest that increase in handling skill for a C decreases his salary, as the coeficient is less than 1.. The same with the IS for SG and BL for PG and SG.. I think that all coefficients in Coef Z2:AI6 must be higher or equal to 1..

Thanks. I'm glad you like the tool.

This aspect of the salary estimator is an odd duck. I agree, it would seem that the coefficients ought to all be ≥ 1. But wozzvt's analysis of the extensive data gathered suggested that there were these slight oddities that you observe. Rather than trying to adjust them to fit what I think ought to be the case, I'm inclined to let the analysis stand (just like with passing for bigs).

Yes, every once in a while it would seem like adding certain skills would make a player "cheaper." But we are talking minuscule increments on a blunt instrument. An example: my main trainee (PG) has the same salary whether I put his SB at 1 or at 23. And a 193k SG with 1SB swings down to 190k when you up his SB to 25 (SB on a SG being the coefficient furthest below 1). But that much change can also happen due to the random factors associated with salary changes at a new season.

As always, you are free to adapt this tool for your own use. What I think is valuable about it, though is that it is based entirely on wozzvt's data collection and analysis.

Perhaps in the next version, I'll change the salary rounding after a certain point to increments of $5000. That way people will understand better that this is most certainly an estimate. What do folks think about that idea?
