My team is falling apart in a major way. After winning 12 straight, I've now lost 4 in a row. It's crazy to think that with one game left, I could end up anywhere between the first and fifth spot in the conference.

Lots at stake heading into the last game of the regular season - especially in the Big 8.

First the boring stuff - In the Great 8 - only real issue is will it be Bedford or Goose that makes the playoffs. My kitties are sitting pretty, knowing that I will again be in III.15 next season. Cheek will win the conference, and play ??? for the league title.

Now, the crazy stuff - in the Big 8, what a photo finish at the end. The crucial match appears to be Deronimo v. Ladson for who will end up with the #4 spot. Otherwise the favorites in each other match should win and make the playoffs.

I have to think that the Big 8 is going to exhaust each other in their conference playoffs, while Cheek just does playoff normal in his conference run, giving his team the edge in the finals. But who knows . . .

Gate could well steal the top spot in the blue. My boys are in complete tatters and Sparty knocking off Cal is not put of the realm. It is all window dressing though as Cheek is a prohibitive favorite to bring home the hardware.

At the end of the regular season, the top 4 teams in each conference, heading into the final game, all made the playoffs. Only possible excitement was goose winning over Atlanta, but they could not make up the point dif to move up from the 5 spot.

On to the playoffs . . . aka the coronation of Cheek as league champs.

This is already cued up on the arena sound system as the exit music for the end of game one of my RL. Hey if I am leaving the gate City might as well have a local band take me out the door. New Orleans beckons and while it will be at least a few months until I actually make the move might as well resettle the team, and hey there is no other true BB presence in the crescent City, everyone else using the moniker is a bot. I am thinking of going with New Orleans Buccaneers which was the name of the ABA franchise that was there and to change the arena to Lakefront Arena which is where UNO plays and which has a very similar capacity to my current incarnation of the Greensboro Coliseum.

However the Generals may just live on, if I can get my old buddy coach Fillmore to change his team name. He can even hang a UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT in front of the coliseum. Housekeeping will even leave the jerseys in the drier.

As to if season 41 finds me in these friendly confines or back in the bush leagues is dicey.

For a team that at mid season had pretty well conceded the campaign I would say the Bulldogs made a very nice save. Alas once again though they are left to be jilted at the alter.

Hey, Hey.

I thought the only way I could beat Cheek is if a key player went down with an injury. Luckily for my team that is what happened. Still, very close game and title is very much up for grabs.

I wasn't planning on an immediate rebuild but when I went looking for trainees and cheap veterans. I kept seeing low bids on quality mid-twenties year old players and took advantage if it. I know having a younger team and more balanced team.
