gotcha!
I was asking as I saw people bidding more for staff members than it would have cost to hire internally...which just made me wonder
some of the prices for coaches that I saw were ridiculous. It makes me think that I will never afford anything more than a "superior"

cheers!

Don't really know how a good draft pick looks like, but I believe I pulled out 2 decent ones this season (maybe it's just me hyping myself up and giving myself a nice pat on the back as I got the 2 I had highest on my list)

One of them actually, I believe is fairly decent (still can't figure out the scale and impact of the potential variable) - potential 6 and 58 in TSP with 3.5k in salary (albeit, at the age of 19). I've read in the newbie guide that 3.5k salary for a draft pick is fairly decent

that being said, I wouldn't be able to figure it out which one to pick from the 2 that I actually kept if shove comes to push and I'd have to ditch one.

the second one has potential 9, but only 47 in TSP (he is only 18 though)

I picked both based on their Inside Defense, which is the same and they are both fairly trash when it comes to the outside defense and they both are fairly tiny

this is some invaluable advice and I really appreciate it
It's kind of nice to actually get answers to the questions I ask (at least every now and then), even though I do appreciate all sorts of help

I could imagine in some years time remembering the name of my first homegrown star (if I ever figure how to turn some of my players into stars)...or at least his nickname.

Tell you what though, you've made me reconsider training that 47 TSP lad (I don't know why I was hyped by him...probably because he was my first choice at the draft pick - player nr19 - and maybe thought potential means more than it actually does) and I will dedicate my full attention on the 58 lad. Apparently, it is fairly hard to have rookies not foul out that often, so game time has been a pain in the arse to manage and training efficiency has been a bit off lately.

I might have a look at that buzzermanager tool, but meanwhile, now that you've mentioned it, in approximate terms, is there a scale or collinearity chart on the length of training each type of potential maxes out at/is efficient until?

just logged into the buzzermanager (still a bit confused on what's what, but did follow its advice in terms of how should I set up my arena)

not sure I get the usage of that salary estimation tool just yet (I see the potential bar differs depending on how I set up the expected skills, but can't figure out what it means), but the rest seems fairly easy to comprehend (except maybe the analysis of the opposition segment). I am happy to see that I've nailed the most efficient lineup in terms of how I expect the game to go about and buzzermanager agrees with me I'll give myself a medal for that

and yeah, I kind of got the idea of what potential does ...I just can't figure out the measure. Was also wondering if potential applies to each skill individually or applies to the TSP as a whole? Initially I thought potential caps the TSP, but then someone else told me otherwise and now I am a tad confused. With what you're saying, I am inclined to follow my initial idea of how potential works

oh, I think I might have gotten the hang of how you use the estimation to sort out the max tsp
all skills seem to be linear though ...and suddenly I see how important potential is (also feel like kicking myself in the balls for training PGs in inside defense and leaving my superstar untrained, who apparently at 51 TSP is almost at 70% potential reached...makes me scratch my head - might need to lower my hype levels again)

And what about the salaries of the staff? I saw trainer level 6 going for 8 millions because of his salary 5000.
