NBBA Season 69 – Day 16 Recap (Saturday, September 6, 2025)
by Buzz Beat Daily

Quiroz Dominates as Mill City Smash Cavaliers’ Reserves
Mill City Thunder stormed past the Virginia Cavaliers 114–27 behind a monster showing from R. Quiroz (35–14–6 with 3 blocks). The Cavs rested starters ahead of Cup play, and the defending champs took full advantage to move to 10–6. Virginia slide to 8–8.

ETBU Keep Rolling, Knights Struggle in Transition
The ETBU Tigers overpowered Kings Knights 102–85, led by H. Kangshan’s 27 rebounds and 7 blocks. The Tigers climb to 10–6 while the Knights, adjusting their roster mid-season, fall back to 8–8.

Imperials Put in Extra Effort, Crush Flashover
After weeks of soft-tanking, the Mos Eisley Imperials locked in and hammered Flashover 147–63, notching their most complete game of the season. With 41 team assists, they showed what happens when their roster actually commits.

Splash Gang & Stark Grab Road Wins
Only two road teams triumphed this round: Splash Gang downed Resurrected Fury 87–73, and Stark Contrast held off HumanFund 89–78. Splash Gang join the crowded mix at 10–6, while Stark extend their dominance at 14–2.

Vertical Push Lions Down Again
10inch Vertical claimed a 92–84 road win at LA Lions, sending them to 7–9. Z. Chongping fought hard for LA, but Vertical’s balance was too much.

TarTeam Too Much for Dogs
The Great 8 leaders, TarTeam, crushed Beware of Dogs 125–54 to improve to 12–4. Dogs fall to 2–14.

Visionaries Fall to Silverbacks
In a key playoff-race matchup, the Silverbacks defended home court 103–93 over the Visionaries. The loss drops Visionaries to 10–6, joining ETBU, Mill City, and Splash Gang in the logjam. Silverbacks keep pace at 9–7.

Key Takeaways
• Only Splash Gang and Stark Contrast managed away wins on Day 16.
• Four contenders — ETBU, Mill City, Visionaries, and Splash Gang — now share a 10–6 record.
Imperials showed their ceiling when they play full throttle.
Knights reshaping their roster may have cost them ground, now sitting at 8–8.
TarTeam remain firmly in control of the Great 8 at 12–4.
Lions continue to slip at 7–9.

Final Word
Day 16 reinforced the importance of effort and roster management. With four teams knotted at 10–6 and the Knights drifting back, the playoff picture in both conferences is heating up fast. One misstep could be the difference between a top-four seed and the lottery.

USA Cup Quarterfinals Preview
by Buzz Beat Daily

TarTeam (NBBA) @ Mill City Thunder (NBBA)
A Cup clash worthy of the final arrives early. TarTeam enter at 12–4, balanced and battle-tested, while Mill City Thunder — last season’s NBBA champions — are still hungry. After lifting the league crown, Mill City now have eyes on adding a Cup trophy to their collection. With Dogana, Quiroz, and Ruojia anchoring the squad, they have the star power, but TarTeam’s defensive versatility makes this a heavyweight showdown. Expect fireworks.

Virginia Cavaliers (NBBA) @ The LA Lions (NBBA)
With Charles Nguyen fully back in rhythm, the Cavaliers bring a dangerous all-around lineup into Los Angeles. They’ll need every ounce of firepower to withstand the Lions, who are led by Buonfini and Siracusa and thrive when their home crowd gets loud. Both clubs sit in the middle of the NBBA pack, so the Cup offers a rare chance at hardware. Expect a grind-it-out duel where one spark — a hot shooting night, a defensive stand — swings the balance.

Flashover (NBBA) @ LionPride (II.2)
Flashover enter as defending Cup champions, but their path to a repeat isn’t easy. They’ve loaded up for another deep run, running the second-highest payroll in the NBBA to fuel this push. LionPride, meanwhile, are hungry to return to the top flight after last season’s relegation. Led by the American guard duo Tyrone Carmichael and Tommy Bob Chow, they currently lead II.2 and look every bit the part of a team ready to come back. Can LionPride’s guards topple the Cup holders?

Splash Gang (NBBA) @ Jumpstop Jumpers (II.3)
The most intriguing matchup of the quarters. Splash Gang’s explosive, guard-heavy attack, powered by Sohn’s outside shooting, faces off against the undefeated II.3 powerhouse. Jumpstop Jumpers, led by Chow Yun You, have built a roster with a lower-tier D1 salary, looking every bit the part of a future NBBA squad. With promotion already within reach, Jumpstop now have a chance to announce themselves on the biggest stage. Experience vs. hunger — this might be the closest contest of the round.

Final Word
The Cup quarterfinals offer a perfect mix: reigning champions of both the NBBA (Mill City) and the Cup (Flashover) in action, tested by hungry rivals and ambitious D2 powerhouses. TarTeam’s clash with Mill City could decide the tournament’s eventual favorite, Flashover face the dangerous LionPride, and Jumpstop Jumpers have the chance to prove they’re already NBBA-caliber. One thing’s certain: by the end of this round, one dream of a double crown will be gone.
