That makes sense, the short menu is better for new users but if you've been here a while, well, there was nothing wrong with the old menu so why would you want to change?

I had to log into the old site today and was completely lost in the variety of boxes of the old menu. It absolutely had to go.

Short menu here...

I guess if you like changes then short menu for you. But dont discount the long menu because like oldies(dont mind the term hehehe) said long menu is one click away.

...or, new users haven't yet figured out how much easier it is to navigate using the long menu, and since the long menu isn't recommended, they are hesitant to try it out. Then, before they get brave, they're already used to the short menu and don't even feel like seeing what all the hurrah over the long menu is. That's my take on most of the new users.

Regarding old users, can we get data on how many of the old users are drunk when they log in and what percentage of them are able to use the short menu without puking and/or passing out? That might help us debate whether or not there is a correlation between menu usage and ability to find/keep a girlfriend.

Don't ask what sort of Chunks they are, you probably don't want to know. Blowing Chunks since Season 4!

as i have wrote few times already,best solution for everyone ,i think, would be drop down style, like in old web, where people can close "drop downs" if they dont need it very often.
it would be great if there could be option to make atlast 2 dropdowns in long menu:

1) there where is Country, NT, U21, BBB...
2) "supporter dropdown", bookmarks, hall of fame..
for me it would be perfect, and form posts earlier, for many other managers too.

we have played with ideas like this and found them all to be pretty awkward,

do you have a site in mind that uses a vertical menu with expandable drop downs that works well in your opinion?

old BB web? doesnt it worked well?
for me it was very good.
maybe you could try in new web it and see what people say...
not too bold, not too "cool"
maybe even without text in dropdown title, just those lines...

oh i thought you meant like an auto hover drop down list type thing

the expandable lists I think end up take a huge amount of room and wouldn't make the menu any shorter.

I think if you look around at any large site, you will find a dual layer system like we have here.
where there are main sections and then subsections which are accessible only when you get to the main section.

I don't think we are really doing anything particularly shocking or unconventional here, I can't think of a single site design/menu structure of any reasonable size which is an utterly flat one.

One with me. I have a relationship with a fantastic woman (former model) on the fourth year and we are engaged. I figured I'd give it a go since the new site is probably the platform the BB's will continue to build around. You can call it a "long term strategy" ;)

I think cahnce to pass out would be minimal because short menu would be so confusing in that case that such persons would have to really concentrate and get somewhat sober quickly. Puking still possible. :)
