In theory for 3-2 zone you will need a consistent OD for your 3 outside player. Try to avoid having one with 15 OD and other one with only 11.
I personally a big believer of SB so I would advise to (depends on the division, and level where you play) have at least 8-9 SB for the outside players as well with high secondary skills.
And for the two big, you need (higher than for a normal 1v1 defense) RB and at least one high SB for at least one of the two and of course decent ID. I would also advise to have at least 6-8 OD for bigs as well.
If you make this set up correctly 3-2 could be a real stopper against even LI tactic not just outside offenses.
Sz.

What would be your advice for skills be for top Division 1 players?

Hi,

I`m sure your Div I is stronger than ours (we are small nation with low numbers of active managers) however I`m happy to share one of my skill set that I had during my championship run.
My PF was 10,7,6, 12,13, 8 and inside: 13,15,11, 15 Ft: 20 He was only a 7 potential player and was not fully trained, but for me he was absolutely great and fit into my team strategy.

I had an SF with both OD and ID 16 with IS 18 and block 8 with high (16-18) secondary and 12 JS. He was crushing everyone pretty much in SF and was a huge boost in defense.
I was heavily playing LI hence my SG and PG had also 12 IS and were destroying my opponents.
Watch out LI as the game engine is under being enhanced.

Hope it helps,
Sz

We have a lot of similar thoughts on the 3-2, but is there a reason you'd have 1 outside defender better than the others? I was under the impression the offense tries to match up against the weakest defender in 3-2 zone.
And the game manual doesn't indicate that rebounding is affected by the 3-2 zone, has there been any indications from BB that it is?

I'm hoping to have enough passing on my SB bigs that they can play PG and SG on offense when needed. That will sacrifice some of the outside shooting from the bigs, but allow my guards to focus on scoring. I'm four seasons into that building process, but haven't seen too much discussed about it in the forums, so thanks for the discussion!

One of the main tendency today when playing strong 3-2 zone defense is to have the bigs with high ID + Block with lower IS and RB, but also have high Passing that can help on offense to contribute more and not to take many shots (with relatively lower IS)
This one also worth to consider.

Well,

I can only share my experience from my championship run when I won our Div I. and in that season with my team my highest RB was 14 and then pretty much 8-9 with the other players.
I already mentioned a few posts back that I managed to won my Div I league with a "low budget team" and it was a kind of experimentation as well, because many managers were sceptic.
My team salary was 100k less then the average of my league and I finished 20-2 with best defense, best FG%, best in pretty much every category, except RB which was a big observation/feedback that I did not need to achieve this.
AS mentioned earlier I had a tailored made team where salary was one of the primary consideration.
I did not have 150 or even 100+k salary players. My highest was 98k then all the rest around and in between 70-35.

It was a great experience and showed me that you do not need "everything" to be able to win.
So all in all from my side, based on my experience I was happy to sacrifice RB and it turned out that it was not a problem at all.
Sz.

Hey, I trained my bigs this way. I am still training them, but they are close to finish line. You can check my games from this and last season. Send me a bb-mail if you want to learn more about my players, and your questions for your players + tactics.
