Darn, I did not play my hand well at all, was tossing up between what I did and just going inside again, but thought that HBG would hedge their bets on an inside call + 3-2 zone and switch up their own LI tactic if I dared GDP myself. MP5 has fair reason to feel robbed by this result.

Congrats Jay, well earned and deserved title.

I don't actually feel robbed at all, the only thing I have to feel a little upset about was the injury to Naharro which I think has proved the difference. Aging has been much more harsh to Simbajon (as I'm sure you'll see when I drop him on the TL shortly) than Naharro, throw in a player with more OD, more ID, and about twice as much IS, and it could have gone my way.

But that's BB, luck as I said in my last post plays a massive part. I honestly think I was lucky to beat Bryce twice in two years both times away from home, probably a 1-1 result was more fair, for me to go 2-0 was maybe 15-30% chance at best. This season, injuries and fouls didn't go my way, I played it tactically as well as I could (though seriously, I'm surprised Jay didn't GDP me inside, I was only ever tossing up between LI and LP).

Looking back over the box score, the +/- is actually shocking. You were negative on all your starters, and your bench came through big. Whereas for me, most were pretty close, except that Sakhayan was +10, and Burridge somehow was -25 over just 19 minutes. He's not that bad of a player. Ah well.

(though seriously, I'm surprised Jay didn't GDP me inside, I was only ever tossing up between LI and LP).

I thought the repeated LI use was a bait and you would switch to Motion to punish me for it when all I needed to do was not get hit by your GDP to take an easy win.

I actually wanted to play Patient but knew that offence plays especially poorly against a 3-2 zone, so I had to Run and Gun, try to take advantage of my bench depth and hope the GDP call was inside again.

It absolutely was a bait, but it is such common human nature to not do things three times in a row to avoid being "predictable" that it actually becomes quite predictable. For instance, if you're ever in rock/paper/scissors with someone and they do the same thing twice in a row, almost nobody does it a third time, so you can safely play the thing that would lose to it (if they had the courage to go three in a row).

Plus, LI is my best offence, part of me stopped caring a few seasons ago of trying to be unpredictable and just play what I do best and play to my strengths, and I've never had better results.

I'll probably try and build a more rounded and balanced team next time I try to compete, but for now it was mostly inside all the way (I wasn't to know they'd change the GE to help outside shooting, I'm glad they did but it didn't help me as much as others).

Congrats on the title man, well deserved.

HBG also put up a great fight, was an entertaining finals series for sure!

I dunno... it still feels like I lost this series and was bailed out by GE shenanigans. Maybe it's IRL drama dragging me down, couldn't watch last nights game because a friend of mine was going through a mental crisis. I'm not going to go too deep into it though because things turned out alright and I don't like to fish for sympathy points on the internet.

It's in all likely-hood not going to be next season that I get a serious run going in the B3, but I've got a few seasons with this core yet to try and patch up the remaining issues and eventually give myself a punchers chance (with a good GDP call anything can happen, and it almost did in game 3).

Don't worry about it, glad everything is ok. RL trumps anything online every time.

If you run that game 100 times, with the correct GDP call I probably win that maybe 55-60 times, you just got one of the 40-45% chances to go your way. It happens and you earned it by putting yourself in that position with one of the greatest ABBL seasons ever.

I'm looking forward to the new season and starting a new season thread once the new arrivals get here, haven't looked at who they are but hopefully it will be exciting.

Hope everything is okay man, that's the most important thing. BB is like a getaway from reality, but like HBG said, friends come first so good on you for looking out for them
