You're right in your interpretation, but where you're getting mixed up is in the number of guys in your example. Training just C should be faster than doing C/PF because you are training more guys with C/PF than with C.

For example, I can easily get 2 guys 48 mins a week at center, or I could easily get 2 guys at C and 2 guys at PF. If the number of guys trained was the same, the training you choose wouldn't matter, but it's not.

yeah, that all makes sense.

I would have preferred to train just centers but rebounding is too important for inside players and you must train both pf/c together. Figured long term that would be an issue so I'm training both pf/c now. I'd be nice to see it changed so you could just train one or both if you choose. Figure that will cause more issues with small forwards, as most skill training has them grouped with inside, outside, or team training.

Maybe SF's will become like Wingers in HT, acting as a good second option for scoring. In BB, tho, they should also be able to contribute to defense. If lots of owners choose to train either C/PF or PG/SG, a niche market will emerge for SF trainers.

@ gerrtv90 I train SFs with my PF/C now, and plan to continue training them after I switch to guard training in a couple seasons. I realize that the training overall will be a tad slower, but I should have some really well-rounded SFs...

@Everyone:
I realize that this may be slightly off-topic, but I'm curious about the amount of training granted to players that play less than 48 minutes. I understand that 48min is the magic threshold, but was curious about those players who receive i.e. 45 minutes in a week. Is 45 minutes close enough that they almost receive full training? Or is it true that a player playing 45 minutes/wk is no different than a player playing i.e. 13 minutes/wk? Anyone really know?

There would hardly be any difference in training between 45 mins and 48 mins. It is a gradual decline the further you get away from 48 mins. You can play a lot more minutes over 48 mins and still get optimal training but you can't play too far under and expect to get good training. You would still get good training at 68 mins(+20) played but not much at 28 mins(-20) played.

I trained pressure this week on my PG/SG, and got one arrow in outside defense and another one in inside defense! Wonder if it's just something unusual or if pressure is also meant for inside game...

From my understanding Pressure trains Outside Defense primarily and slowly trains Inside Defense at the same time as they are related.

Training a skill will increase that skill for your trainees, but it's also possible to get pops at other, related skills.

First for this one, trained inside defense. Didn't get any inside defense pops, but did get a pop in inside scoring.

I just got a second pop for two of my players.

I have been training jump shot for 4 weeks now with a level 10 trainer. Two of my 18 y/o trainees popped in jump shot the first week I trained it and both have just popped again this week. They have both been getting 48 mins a week regularly and I have been doing the training on guards only.

3 weeks is pretty good training time, even for an 18 year old. Hopefully this can be of some us in defining training speeds.
