Yeah, that's a bit of a funny situation. They did buy Silves and they did win, but his acquisition was not the major reason they won the final.

It will be 1/5 of the reason.

It's also past the point of being a trick that may or may not have worked in the past. Both finalists have added ~500k centers in recent weeks. This season the divine trick has already succeeded and the final has yet to be played.

With the money some teams have stocked up (not me but the even smaller nation/dominant teams) a cut-off point for registering players will make their task even easier. It will just boil down to timing your run.. naturally if 2 similar teams go for it at the same time they'll only have a 50/50 chance but what is also not being discussed is when certain teams adopt this strategy, it can have the complete opposite effect on other so called contenders.

If you see that team X is going for it by adding players that he just can't afford week in week out and you aren't prepared to copy, then you can just go defensive and operate at much lower than you normally would and compound the saving you make over your rival so that the following season(s) you have a much bigger advantage.

Charles will likely argue that this is good because it guarantees different winners each time but then we are in a scenario where there isn't really that much close competition. You just resign from the race to win the trophy and only go for it when you are almost certain of victory.

WHAT?this is just not have much sense for me...if you try to operate to a lower level to save money for the monster,you probably won't come in final stages of the B3,and you will ahve difficulties also in the less competitive country to win the national cup/championship to qualify for the next B3 competition because of the home factor in the playoffs

No - I'm saying if you aren't competing you can strip your roster back for an entire season (or longer) accept a lower finish in the league or a shorter cup run and then build to fight another day.

If you are going to finish 4th in your league or get knocked out in the cup anyway why operate on $800k a week if you can operate on $300k and achieve the same result?

Well fair play to the winner if the gamble pays off. I can't believe that there isn't at least 2 teams in Buzzerbeater wanting to fight for his signature.

In Japan the losing cup finalist should've signed him or someone similar, won the final and the $300k then immediately sold without paying the wage and at worst taken a 20% hit on the sale price (softened by the $300k)... that would've been $300k spent to win the cup.

The BBB final prize is $1mil.... so there is plenty of scope for tactics like this IF you win. I can't believe in the BB world there aren't other cup finalists prepared to take these risks. Maybe the losing finalists/semi finalists this week will regret not stepping up to the table for the sake of a few hundred thousand $.

Do you still think when you see transfers of both this season finalists there is no need to change the rules yet?
