Popularity in the group?What does it mean?That someone can write stupid things only becaue he/she's popular(except for Edju,he can do everything)?
However,a post rating system it's only a funny thing for some user,so there's no reason to kill him

Well I mean that there exist various types of personalities which enjoys a contests like this. So why not have this here as a motivation, while it can make forum more interesting.

While the one ball system works well to point out which individual posts are of most interest, it does not give any good indication of the general quality of a user's posts as the system is more correlated with quantity than quality.

Then of course the latter is not really that important, but atabakin's suggestion of average ball per post would be better.

I think the average ball per post would be useless, because most posts aren't rated, and the ones that are rated will generally just be +1.
So almost everyone in BB is going to have an average post rating of about 0.2 or something really small.

So almost everyone in BB is going to have an average post rating of about 0.2 or something really small.

That's just a question of normalizing. Of course user's that writes tons of posts would have a hard time getting a high average as most of their posts would never get rated (partly because you can only rate a user ones per every 12 hour or so).
