Big win to take a firm hold on 2nd - we are now a game and PD clear with 1 game left.

1. The team got off to a slow start, losing the first quarter by a point. We were struggling to contain their inside game, with their starting bigs combining for 10 points, with only 1 missed shot between them. On our end, the Jackson Mansfield medal leader Shishaev got off to a slow start, going 0-2 in the quarter, while Makurkar lead all scorers in his 2nd NT game.

2. Shishaev's night got worse, as he suffered a hard hit early in the 2nd quarter, and did not return. Betting was suspended on the medals, but Shishaev appeared to be ok after the game. The 2nd quarter was more of the same, as Park had his way with us inside. However, our offense clicked into gear, and we entered the half with a narrow lead.

3. Our offense was sort of alright in the third quarter. Here's some stats: 21-31 from the field. 6 of 8 from beyond the arc. Toss in a couple of made FTs, and what do you get? a 50 point quarter. 50. Not bad. We completely blew the game apart, taking a 29 point lead into the final break. Riemers and Scoggins tossed in 10 points, Deagas had 8, and Faletoese and Walker 7 a piece. Not bad.

4. With the Korean star performer of the night, Park, fouling out early in the 4th, we continued on our merry way with another 41 points, while restricting Korea to 15, to win by 55 points. We won the last half by 50. Faletoese had a big last quarter with 10 points, while Degas caught fire late to get 9 points for the quarter.

5. Where was the game won and lost? Well, we scored 91 points in the last half. That probably will win you most games.

Darby Walters Medal

3. Steve Riemers. Riemers was massive tonight, picking up the slack after Shishaev was injured. He was particularly big in the 3rd quarter, which set the game up for us. But in addition to his 20 points, his playmaking was a highlight all night - ending with 8 assists.

2. Emori Faletoese. Just kept going all night, making 12 of his 17 FG attempts. Also notched up 4 assists from the SF position. Would have been a 3 vote performance in most other games this season.

1. Dylan Scoggins. Big men aren't supposed to go 8-10 in a RnG offense, but big Dylan found a way to get it done tonight. His 4 assists for a PF were also pleasing.

Honourable mention - The whole god damned team. Except Anderson. And Hadley. And Shishaev. But everyone else scored like mad.

Rudolph Radford Medal

3. Scott Schnieder. Did the job on the glass, and kept the opposing centres reasonably quiet given we were facing an inside offense.

2. Steve Riemers. Did the job on the opposing SG, forcing to take 15 shots, of which he only hit 3. Also had a steal, but it would be nice to see him hit the boards.

1. Emori Faletoese. Did a nice job on the defensive boards for a SF, kept the opposing SF quiet, and nabbed a steal as well. Did all he needed to do.

Jackson Mansfield Medal leaderboard

Overall, Scoggins extends his lead in the Darby Walters medal, and Schnieder takes the lead in the Rudolph Radford medal. Shishaev still leads the overall medal, but only just after two voteless weeks. With at most 3 games left, it is probably down to a race in 3 now, barring a massive last few games from some players.

Love seeing my boy Reimers have a nice game. Sorry about the boards I can't see him getting any training in the area either, but hopefully I can still get him some training minutes for the rest of the season and going next.

Final NT game of the second group stage is on tomorrow night. We currently sit in second, a game and PD clear of Japan, who we play tomorrow and who are the only team who can overtake us. 2nd place will get us through to the semis, so this is a big game!

Shame about Anderson's injury, but it looks like we have about bigs in good gameshape to secure the win.

A comfortable win against Japan - a little surprising since they crunched (I'll post a writeup tomorrow). That puts us through to the semi against China.

The semi will (I believe) be on Friday night.

To anyone with players in the team - please keep them in good gameshape as best you can. Even if your team is no longer alive for the season, the NT needs you ;).

To people who have players on the fringe - we will add two players in proficient gameshape following the training update. If you have a player you think may be useful, please feel free to send me his attributes, and get them into proficient GS if possible for a NT game (or, if all goes well, 2 games)!

This will be tough, but we'll give it a go.

Well, we are through to the semis with this win. A reminder that the game is on Friday night, not Monday night.

Australia v Japan

1. Japan had alot to play for, needing a large win to get 2nd spot, and to keep the game close to secure third and a repacharge spot next season. As a result, it wasn't a surprise to see them come out fired up.

2. However, their enthusiasm may have been misplaced in the first quarter, as their players tried for too much and shot brick after brick. Our boys went into the break 11 points up, largely due to solid D and an 8 point outburst from Degas. The second quarter was an unremarkable arm wrestle

3. Neither side could score in the third quarter - just a combined 22 points were scored. Australia's struggles may have been due to Scoggins fouling out early in the third - he had been our leading scorer up to that point.

4. Much like the previous two quarters, the final quarter was another stalemate - but with our big first quarter we came out on top for a 15 point win. (Sorry for the poor writeup here - but it wasn a reasonably unremarkable mostly dead rubber for us!)

5. We won the game in the first quarter. But Japan lost it at the line. They went 12 for 31 at the line, which is just abysmal. And that's despite one player going 7-11. They are in serious need of some FT training!

Darby Walters Medal

3. Brent Degas - I liked his ability to score from the PG position tonight, as he went 6-10 and was our leading scorer. A few assists and no TOs rounded out a seriously handy performance. His first quarter scoring effort set up the game

2. Dylan Scoggins - He was our leading scorer until he was fouled out, and snagged a few offensive rebounds as well. I can't get mad at him for fouling out, given the effort of their players at the line!

1. Scott Schnieder - Just a standard 5-6 shooting game for Scotty, to pick up the one vote

If we lose the semi final, Scoggins will win this medal. If we make the final, some others have a chance to pinch it, but this is likely Scoggins' medal.

3. Scott Schnieder - The opposing centres got shut down in a big way. Most of the credit for that needs to go to Schnieder, who also had a block, a steal, and 5 defensive boards.

1. Lionel Walker and Vladimir Shishaev - I'm giving one vote to each of these guys, since they both shut down the opposing SG, and picked up a couple of rebounds. I can't split them!

CCat has had to put Degas and Anderson on the market so I guess we need some new homes for them and also Scoggins.

Vios, Mllama, Bryce and either Chumunga or Awesome might be interested.

Ofcourse Fishy could buy them all and assemble a monster team with the multi millions he has stashed away

I suspect none of the potential div II promotees would buy players until they are certain they are promoting, so unless they sweep the series, I reckon we are out of the market for these guys.

I woulda had a dip at Degas if I was certain of promoting.
