If I'm trying to buy a player I want to play my game as late as possible so if I pick up a free agent that needs minutes I can still play him and possibly even give him training minutes.

Just challenge them both ways home and away and let them chose what they prefer

Howl to the Moon, you won't regret it.

There is one more way, that some people choose scrimmages.
1)If you play with an equal opponent you usually get 35-40 minutes played for the starting5, also you can get an OT and get some extra-minutes that can damage the player's GS, if they will get too many total minutes played.
2)If you play with a much weaker opponent - you will have your bench players playing in the last quarter, The starting5 will get about 25-30 minutes.
The same considers the tactics. If I need to play the equal match, like variant1 - I would put the "wrong" tactics for the match. I mean the worst possible one. If I need the second variant( 25-30 minutes for the starting5) I would prefer to put the best winning tactics to destroy my opponent during the first 3 quarters.
Sure, sometimes it's rather difficult to say on Saturday what variant you will need after 2 league games played, but sometimes I know that I will have 2 easy matches and I can arrange played minutes easily.
I usually prefer to play at home. The reason is that I will defenitely remember the exact time of the game and I will set my lineup in time.

It seems to me that this thread should have been made in the Help Forum..

From my understanding scrimmages are good for nothing more than gameshape and training minute managing.
I highly doubt your merchandise droppings are due to losing in a scrimmage.
They should not affect any other aspect of your team.

Incorrect. As Peter K said above, scrimmages have zero impact on your fan survey. The likely reason that you had a drop in both merchandise and attendance is that you lost the two league games right before the scrimmage in question (including an absolute blow out in one game).
