Its quite common that sport clubs are some kind of public limited corporations at the same time. So the volume of cash available pretty much depends on theirs reputation (share is cheaper or more expensive).
Something like this is part of the game through arena revenue etc, so you get the money for results. As for investments in the bank for some kind of revenue just like that, its not a good idea, because might happen that best profit from that will have just teams with more cash available and I personally would prefer the way to sell everything, have some crappy team with training alive and enjoy all my money with bank account.
So if there can be any kind of economy thing in addition "to do", it has to be something probably like combination of both. So you can bet your available money for the results in the future, depends on how risky situation is, better revenue you get. Otherwise it doesnt make sense.
Oh and possible profit has to decrease if your team stagnate in the same league or for the same cup results or like that. Seems now kind of complicated.
