maybe this can be set as an option somewhere?

Under the default language in perferences, i would have thought this would indicate the seperateor for the currencies?

if not, maybe it could be added there. I think its fairly standard isnt it? USA use comma's, Aus we dont use them, (although, looking at netbank now, they are.. hmm).

No it isn't. US and AUS use commas as the thousand separators and a dot (full stop) to separate where dollar ends and cents begins etc $123,456.78

In Europe, they do it the other way around. They use the dot for thousand separators and the dot to seperate between euro cents so they would end up with $123.456,78

This is clearly more confusing for everybody.

There already is a universally understood separator, a (white) space, used for both the auction price and player salary. I can even quote you on this:
displaying the price like "3 034 123"

I anyway prefer it the current way, it makes working with different programs and language versions (Excel etc.) easier.

The current system is way better than one with comas or dots.

I like your solution - letting the user define it, or setting it upon user's nation.

Another option, which is not as good as yours (that I favour more), is to write the number also in letters...
"25250" - "Twenty-five thousands and two hundred and fifty".
[I'm adding this only because maybe setitng a new preference value would not be that easy or wanted to be implemented..]

Not that the following is important to the discussion, but on Israel this is like in AUS and US case.

Excel can "eat" (identify and break) any separator.
Space is something that may not be noticed.
Anyhow, read Coach Regan solution. I think it solves all arguments against.

We are entering the pointless territory again. Don't you have anything better to do with your time, than produce pointless suggestions?
