My interpretation has always been that you find your best mismatched inside scorer. With a zone I'm not exactly sure how the matchups work, but the prevailing wisdom is that they'll look for whichever of your players has the greatest mismatch, in this case in inside scoring. Using all hypothetical numbers, if your center has 17 IS, but the opponent's center has 15 ID, but meanwhile your PG has 7 IS and the guy guarding him is at 2 ID, the PG will get the majority of the shots because he's more disproportionate to the player guarding him. Likewise with your opponent- if his PF has 12 JS and your PF has 5 OD, that's probably their greatest mismatch.

It's not a perfect system, or a great description in the game manual, but there's ways to play it to your advantage.

I think GE didn't look at DR for this game, but rather the mismatch. Your SG probably had way too much of JS and JR for his SF to handle. His SF did a decent job, but your SG (on SF position) did a good job too.

may be this is a reason :

"An inside or outside focus means that teams will try to get more inside/outside shots, but the players will still take the best shots they can, and if the opposing inside defense is making it impossible to score near the basket, they won't attempt many inside shots no matter what you do."

This was my game where I used inside ISO, against a much better team. My PF went 3-11 3 shots were jumpers, my 1 center had solid shooting, the other, shot two 3s, (hit 1), and a lot of jumpers.

meanwhile my PG and SG, kept trying to drive the ball in, or hawk a 3... no middle ground.

Going off OP's logic, yeah, my Cs and PF, should have taken the 18+ shots, and tried to dominate inside. But I believe its not so much, isolating players inside, as the players inside position themselves in such a way that perimeter players get a 1on1 to drive or shoot or pass?

from game manual :
During the course of the game, your coach will make adjustments as a result of how the game is going. If you are making a lot of inside shots, he will tell you to take more inside shots. If the opponent is making a lot of inside shots, he will tell your defenders to double-team in the post more often. However, any time that the coach makes a change away from the tactics you started out with, it will be a less effective than if you had simply chosen to double-team the post all along (i.e., you will find that it is easier for your coach to tell the defenders to focus even harder than they already are on inside defense if you are already playing a 2-3 zone). The closer your submitted tactics are to the optimal choice, the better, especially because the coach is only able to make limited adjustments once the game has started.

Its all couch fault. :))
