3pt contest follow a rule, i believe like that:

groupp all players within 5 make 3 point shots, take the group with the most made shots and put then into the contest, then the next group ... And if just a part of a group could be included into the contest, the dudes with the best percentages comes in.
Is that random?

If players are chosen by quantity it seems erratic to me.

Tactic decides who is in the contest, not the skills.

I think that another problem with the 3Pt contest (although not really important to this game), is that it takes more than a single player per team.
As far as I know, there may be only a single player per team, upon NBA rules. On any case, I think this is what should be.

Not an NBA rule, this season there was James Jones (MIA) and Chalmers (MIA)

I seen a 3p contest with 4 players from the same team. And in an competitive league to.
As I wrote - the all-star "weekend" as no real-affect, and even if I remember wrong (and I said I might at this point), having more teams taking part of this game is something that may add to the involvement of those users.

I don't see any back-side to that.

BTW - for exmple, in some of the sports a single nation could not send more than a single participant for the olympic competition.
So, it is surely not something never heard of...
