That's an over-simplification as you can see in the following post. Team ratings are skewed by all kinds of stuff. Zone defenses, minutes played, defensive assignments and so on.

Not denying it, SB with 3-2 can do miracles here, same as not-primary defs. However, if you have only 5-10 minutes to analyze the rival, looking at team ratings may help to estimate strength of the rival as well, as some of his weakness (low OD team rating always suggest the simplest way to destroy the rival).

Looking at the team ratings takes just a few seconds per game. According to your arbitrary time frame you then have 4-9 minutes left to look at the more interesting numbers. ☺
