Scrimmages don't have any cost and don't make any money, so home or away doesn't matter economically.

If it is an international scrimmage, the game is played at the regular scheduled game time for the host country. Games are played over a roughly 18 hour time frame, beginning in New Zealand and ending in Mexico. The training update is after all friendlies have been completed, so the time only matters if you want to watch your game, or perhaps if you bought or sold a player.

There is a home court advantage which could have an effect on game results, and training minutes - but I don't whether there would be a systematic way to choose home or away so as to get more players training.
