my point guard has level 13 jump shooting with level 9 jump range

You can stop right there. 9 is not exactly a mind-blowing stat as far as jump range is concerned. And trust me, contrary to popular opinion it's rather important for any sort of three-point shooting.

Kozlodev, i find your arrogance insulting.

your own 3 point shooting sucks by the way as well.

look at the numbers.

jump range is not a very easily trained stat, and i promise you its just not me. its shooting percentages of 2 point shots as well.

maybe you enjoy having a team with 26% 3 point shooting. if thats how real basketball was supposed to be, defenses would play the revolutionary 0-5 zone, and beg teams to try shooting from the outside.

in fact, if no one thinks that league wide shooting percentages from beyond the arc under 30% are a problem can i at least ask for the 0-5 zone option?

The difference is that I don't go complaining about how the system is broken because I know full well why my three point shooting sucks: it has to do with the skills of my players and the team tactics I play, not with the fact the system is broken.

My personal experience tells me that JR at least as important as JS for three-point shots, if not more. So this should be considered. My take is that most people are fielding guards who most "resemble" Rajon Rondo in terms of skills, and expect them to shoot the three like Ray Allen. This is not going to happen.

So let's make suyre we've exhausted (or at least considered the possible existence of) other explanations before you blame the system and "start riding the GMs".

well, if every team has sucky 3 point shooting, im pretty sure its time to go after the system.

thanks for asking though

ps: last season with unequivocably weaker shooters i had 31.7% 3 point percentage

the season before when i had a good outside shooting team and was in a weaker division, i was 35.7%

the numbers are down across the board, but thanks for ignoring the facts after asking for them

if the system isnt going to change, tell us now. but it should be changed, and that point must be made as bluntly as possible

I did my very own little experiment, and searched for players with 12+ JR. I found 9 (nine) of them, as opposed to the 84 with 12+ JS and 46 with 12+ IS.

Of this very small sample, everyone who had at least half-decent passing (read: didn't jack up any opportunity he got, thus damaging his shooting percentage beyond repair), had 3FG% of .370 or better.

The results are pretty much the same when you expand the search criteria to 11+ JR and 4+ Pass.

i don't think that the NBA is the best known league for defense, but even in other leagues there are similiar stats at shooting.

But i would say the actual system is pretty balance, and it was still fun even when you usually shoot one from 10 when you play Look inside, from the 3point line. If you adjust that, the chanche is pretty good that outside Offense become to powerfull and i won't risk that.

Additional is it a problem in training behaviour, outside defense is much more common then Jumprange.

I personally would be in favor of raising the mean rate of 3 point attempts, in doing the NBA simulations I did have to raise the mean rates quite a bit.... I think I would do it gradually... start with a 5 percentage point bump across the board, so to give teams time to readjust to the new game balance.

EDIT: SOME OF THESE STATEMENTS MIGHT BE MISLEADING.. PLEASE READ (66639.86)

I am curious how you calibrated the NBA players for the simulations.

My complaint with outisde shooting lately is that a pair of guards paid 5k each and a 3-2 defense can shut down an outside offense quite easily. I have been playing r&g since day 1 (season 4 for me), and the more I train my shooters, the lower my percentages are getting, specially from beyond the arc.

And this season, I have lost games to teams wich had garbage for backcourts. To the point that I'm considering selling the whole team and starting over by training inside players. I didn't start a thread like this one because no one else was complaining, but I felt like it many times. Either outside shooting is somehow broken or I don't get some part of the game.

edit: No profanity, please

i just did what i thought would be reasonable... took the 3 point percentage of NBA players in real life compared to the average 3 point shooting percentage of the nba, set the average to a jump range of 5 and chose a reasonable linear scale factor.

I also did something which i thought was reasonable for the defensive ratings, then started tweaking the mean of the 3 point shooting percentage in the engine till it seemed to match reality reasonably well.... then eyeballed the variations around the average and they seeme din the ball park, though they would probably be tuned better.

I am curious whether the outside shooting rate has drifted down over time in BB due to the distribution of ratings... I seem to recall that it used to be higher.
