We tried to stay clear of comparisons with RL because it's quite ridiculous and because cheating in BB is neither a crime nor an offense. We don't have any rights to know or ask about it. So let's talk about ways to prevent it without resorting to inappropriate arguments please.

It actually shows what's wrong with a pillory, overexagerating a relatively small disturbance.

this from the NBA magic world....http://www.nba.com/search/?text=fines&x=0&y=0

and the FIBA

http://www.fiba.com/pages/eng/fc/news/lateNews/p/langid/1...

i could find several others similar or fines of other category...

even by typing:fraud, penalties, fine etc....there are several articles, THAT MAKE PUBLIC any accusations and penalties set by the NBA/FIBA ...

if they dont worry about it and make public all fines given....

what are we so afraid of????

Hypocrisy as i once said....:))))

They are articles not a pillory. It's a different issue.

The argument is that a pillory would tone down cheating. My question is : do you think Rudy would stop saying he wants to return to Europe if his name was put on a pillory list for everyone to see ? Do you see how ridiculous is this question ?

Why there are articles written about those fines is very different from what we are talking about.

I am discussing the assumption that public humiliation prevents rules breaking.

I believe I am right on topic.

the point of Pillory is not public humiliation, my understanding from what people were posting, about the pros, was notification and more light on decisions....not how the decisions are reached, rather what the decisions were.

I dont think that anyone suggested here that a team should be punished and humiliated by creating a pillory

besides if a team is banned from game and that is shown on pillory, how is that team humiliated?? the team cant login into the game again?
plus if a team is fined for a player transfer that is too high, how is that team humiliated if that is shown in pillory??

plus not to mention this is not RL (real life) and the idea is to keep it as a game, and not refer to real life issues, like humiliation, ridicule, and many others....which is why the pillory is not meant to creat these issues, rather simply be used as a source for knowing what is going, free time from GMs as all fines will be in one page so people would not have to keep asking, plus give a better incentive for people to continue to report as they see the result of these reports.
