The crowdfunding idea was brought up by me years ago.

If there is money, there are resources. The unwillingness to outsource the project does not mean there are/were no resources availiable - if they want to get it done for free... When you spend peanuts, you get monkeys.

From what I have learned so far, money should not be the problem really, but as the game and its design become more and more outdated there might be problems in setting up an app for the existing databases and stuff

If money wasn't issue, they'd outsource it to professionals. Marin post clearly says - we don't have/don't want to spend money, looking for someone to do it for "free".

For me, the BB looks completely mismanaged. Someone is just letting this boat float, while it still generates money.
