Hi Joseph. I would be happy to give you all of my game statistics for your research. However, I am not sure the best way to do this. Let me know. I have kept a lot of data. Unfortunately, I never kept records of team enthusiasm until now (from your BBmail to me) so I don't know how helpful it will be.

Anyway, let me know how I can help you.

Once I scored a basket that still makes me laugh.

I have to admit though that I have grown more sceptical about the relevance of the exact details of the team rating formulas for the game engine.

The BBs have said that the sector ratings have no relevance to the game engine themselves. They're there to give us an idea of the relative strengths and weaknesses of the teams.

The only thing I can recall the BB team saying on this issue is that comparing team ratings is not a good tool for explaining which team won, and that PP100 is a better indicator of that.

My understanding is that team ratings are an input in the game engine in some form, together with individual player skills.

"I don't know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve."

Why? I know that's how Hattrick works, but other than that, I don't see why one would assume this. I assume that the player ratings would be enough to determine each event on the court.

The fact that the sector ratings are not terribly relevant is alluded to in this thread: (903.1).

That has nothing to do with Hattrick. If anything, half of my post in the How Did I Lose thread are spent to explain to people that half 1/3 level difference in team ratings really doesn't mean as much as they thing.

One doesn't have to assume anything. Even if you haven't followed the forum discussions with the BBs on this, since they're few and far between, there is a nice quote from the rules in the previous post in this thread: (46657.86).

"I don't know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve."

And where does it say that those ratings are the sector ratings that are displayed in the match report?

The rules text says pretty clearly team ratings, and so does the box score. I haven't seen any other team ratings anywhere in the game, either, so it's a pretty safe assumption to make.

However, if you are willing to believe there is another set of hidden team ratings, which is in fact completely different from this one, please tell me right now so that I don't waste half a day arguing with you like I did with that other guy about something else.

I'll stand by the thread I linked earlier, particularly (903.7). raonne was a BB, no? If he says they're obscure, then they hold very little meaning to me.

And that's all I have to say in this thread. I tried to help confirm something that the original poster mentioned and have no interest in discussing this further.
