Well, you played a zone so you didn't really "assign" a defender to him.

Few things happened here i think:

- he played with Normal to your TIE
- he played with HCA
- their SG just had an incredible scoring game, it happens. He's killing your league, winning leading the scoring by over 10ppg so he's obviously a great scorer anyway.

- on your side of things, you played a PF at PG which meant that your Look Inside offense was mostly ineffective because of the poor passing and offensive flow to the game.

I tied but still had edge in matchup ratings.

Josef Ka is probably the person to ask about this, but I don't think matchup ratings take effort into account. Just player skills and enthusiasm.

I think, anyone putting less effort into his game has no place in this thread. He also had home court. You are just looking at the team rating. It's obvious that most of his outside threat comes from his sg and to be honest you do not have any defender that has enough OD to match his JS (even if you would have ran 1-3-1, he would have still torched you). His sg league scoring and salary already shows that he is unstoppable in a league of 5-7k scrubs.

However if you played man to man your best defender would have been on him most likely 70-80% of the time and he would have scored a lot less points.

100% of the time. There is no switch of defensive assignments in man-to-man coverage.

There is still help defense in man to man, i.e., a guard drives past his man and someone else picks up on him. For example I''ve noticed in the game logs times where a PG shoots and my PF or C is guarding the shot in man to man.

Help defense is not a switch on defense in the way in which it happens in zone defenses, it's just another player trying to block the shot.

Great ending ... No fouling when he steals the ball in the last seconds, whats was the point of getting in the penalty before the last minute ...
