Are you sure that player was an A+ player? Reason being that I got a player with A+ in last season's draft and his skills were far better than the ones you listed above.

My understanding is that the grades are based on salary, but with 2 atrocious on inside skills and a pitiful and awful in guard skills it seems hard to believe. Perhaps there is just a very large variance.

However, you did not provide the age or potential for that player. If the player is 18 and a Hall of Famer or All time great then I bet you could sell him for 1.5 to 2 million dollars and it may have been worth tanking the season.

That player Kukoc posted will have a salary of around 4.7k so I'm sure he'll be A+.

I think there is a good chance the player was just an A at 4.7k salary.

He was A+ because he was in my scouting list. He has 4803 salary and has pot 10. He was sold for 680k. Is that enough for tanking the whole season and spending the next season one level lower. He might be worth more but he was listed higher aswell and did not sell.
Tanking might be an option, but it has it's risks. I'd rather win games and gather some cash to buy the draftee I need, than tank a season.

I guess it depends on what league you are in as well. If you are in the lowest league then there is certainly less risk.
The player you listed is probably on the lower end of the scale of 5 star A+ 5 potential players though, so a better player might be worth tanking for. For example I got a rookie with over 6k salary with A+ and another rookie with over 5k salary with A+ so tanking for something like that would definitely be worth it if the potential is right I think.

Ranking second in the league and still drafting a decent player, so why would you tank against bots? Comon are you suggesting that??? Would you have tanked your league last year. Knowing you can win it? If you are in a bot league the best thing you can do with the new system. Count the bots drafting. Then start scouting draftees after those, win the league and get more income next season. Dropping one level instead of rising is pointless. You can't actually say that player is on the lower level of A+, remember salarys were lowered this season aswell.

I'm not saying I would have tanked last season. But perhaps one of the teams that came 5th would have preferred to tank and get this player.

For example I am just promoted to div 2, if I find a great player in the draft I will tank for 8th, if not I will try and come 7th or 6th.
And tanking is not the same as relegating. If you are in div 3 and know you aren't good enough to promote, then it may be a valid option to come 7th and just make sure you buy some great players before the playoffs and make sure you don't relegate.

If you do manage to get a great draftee you can train him up yourself or even sell him for 2 million and that is more than you would have made in a season of div 3.

Ignoring salaries, what I was saying was that out of the players that I have seen with an A+ rating his skills seem quite low in comparison.

There are too many if's in your posts. We are talking about scouting the first player who is 5, A+,5, good height for position. With the new system (ranking) in order to pick first you have to have the worst record. Thus you have to relegate.
Everyone can boost up their rosters before playoffs. I have seen both 6-th place teams relegate in our league.
Training someone means you have to have a training spot available for him. Training draftees (that can't contribute on your league level) means you will have a liabilty in the game you want to get him training minutes.
You can't really ignore salarys, it's what determines the grade of the player shown in draft. How many A+ players have you actually seen out of them all? Have you browsed through atleast Australia and wrote BB-mail to everyone who has 4500+ salary draftee to get their skill distribution?

Certainly that player is on the low end of the range, but he is still in the range.

I don't think anyone is suggesting that an otherwise playoff caliber team tank to get the first pick, but if you're a team that is likely to relegate anyway (like me) and you spot an A+ 18yo 5 ball pot, then you should probably head towards that 1st draft pick.

Personally, I plan on trying to stay up until the allstar break, at which point I will spend all of my scouting points and formulate a plan based on that and where I am in the league.

Jus a general question. Not so much about when this is being implemented specifically... rather if it is definitely being implemented this season... and do I need to worry about adjusting my current scouting rate?
