The B3 winning team sold for 25 million. However, the sum you would need to build such a team on the TL is even higher since those players would normally not be available together at the same time. If those players were younger the price would have been much higher. I think it was 8 players, so he got 3 million per player on average.

The stunning fact however is that most teams now cost/are worth about as much as building a full arena! At 500k a pop, with 8 players and 3-4 filler, it's roughly 4-5 million minimum.

However, if someone who has completed his arena is able to compete with minimum salary, he would be punished exactly the same way people who are actually tanking. If someone is able to accumulate cash while competing he shouldn't be affected by measures designed to tackle tanking.

I'm exactly in this situation, I'm under the minimum salary and was able to play PO last 2 seasons. Anyway, I don't see where my team will be affected with the luxury tax. I guess under 10 millions in bank, it won't be taxed... The limit is maybe even higher...

We probably overreacted, Marin said not many teams will be heavily affected, so taxes will probably start hurting at about 25 or 30 million. Judging by the market prices and that money poll, I believe a lot of teams have 10-15 million, some maybe up to 20.

Then exactly what would be the purpose of another tax if not preventing tanking and banking (as much as possible)?

The problem really isn't a lot of cash in the bank, the problem are the people who increase that bank account by 200K-300k per week completely disregarding the spirit of the game and taking advantage of the fact there are no penalties for tanking.

I think it's hilarious that every time Marin posts anything it's always the same few managers that come out and choose to disrespect and attack him no matter what was said.
I don't even know why he bothers posting in any forum anymore.

Anyways with that being said, it's about 50/50 for and against the hoarding tax.
I guess the old saying that you can't please everybody applies here just the same as it applies in life.
But to those of you who disapprove the potential tax, what would you do in place of the tax?

I believe I read that someone would like to tax only those who are making massive weekly profits. This doesn't seem like a bad idea to me. Perhaps set a maximum weekly profit for each league based off of the league average salary in a similar way that TV contact money is done?

I think raising the salary floor would be a good way to make sure teams keep a competitive team in the league.
It took me a couple seasons for my homegrown Utopia team to finally pass the salary floor, but that's okay. I'd have been okay with it if it was even higher.

Fan survey should be tuned up. Why dont take into a count amount of accumulated money from few previous weeks. Compare it with rosters of other teams in league and create fans expectations. Once i have 16th roster and am 15th in amount of money in league my fans shouldnt go crazy after lose abroad to f.ex. 8th ranked team. While when i am no1 in economics in league and 14th in roster my fans should react accordingly..

1 BBB, 20 Leagues, 10 Tournaments, 3 Europe Titles (SVK), 2 World Bronzes (SVK), 2 Europe Bronzes (SVK,FRA), 42 Seasons NT coaching

Excellent excellent idea!

Now this, this is reasonable, and makes sense.

Also, seeing how IRL (bad examples usually) that this kind of poor use of $ etc leads to coaches and GMs being fired from their team, give it an impact that will be meaningful but not excessive.

I don't disapprove of the tax, but I have seen plenty of reasonable alternatives proposed, too. Mostly, though, if they turned Buzzerbeater into a basketball sim instead of a play-for-profit exercise I'd be happy. Then we wouldn't need to worry about taxes.

Haha yeah Captain Teemo is definitely one of those who are always against Marin and the EGMs and Mike Franks notoriously supports them. You could not have picked a worse thread to make this argument lol.

I proposed many times that they should kill attendance for tanking teams. So if you have a substantially lower salary than the average human manager in the league, if you lose by massive blowouts every time you play a human manager you can't expect to have an attendance equal to any other team in the league. They should simply adjust the fan survey to penalise those teams more than they are penalised today. This would not be applied to new managers of course.

Now, this won't stop tanking just like that, however that would ensure that managers would try to avoid alienating their fan base (i.e. try to win some game).
