I am discussing the assumption that public humiliation prevents rules breaking.

I believe I am right on topic.

the point of Pillory is not public humiliation, my understanding from what people were posting, about the pros, was notification and more light on decisions....not how the decisions are reached, rather what the decisions were.

I dont think that anyone suggested here that a team should be punished and humiliated by creating a pillory

besides if a team is banned from game and that is shown on pillory, how is that team humiliated?? the team cant login into the game again?
plus if a team is fined for a player transfer that is too high, how is that team humiliated if that is shown in pillory??

plus not to mention this is not RL (real life) and the idea is to keep it as a game, and not refer to real life issues, like humiliation, ridicule, and many others....which is why the pillory is not meant to creat these issues, rather simply be used as a source for knowing what is going, free time from GMs as all fines will be in one page so people would not have to keep asking, plus give a better incentive for people to continue to report as they see the result of these reports.

A pillory is a real device, research about it. By analogy, the name pillory was given to the kind of list you want to see here, it's not by chance. The goal is to shame and the expectation is that the fear of an humiliation deters rules breakings. Again, if you've seen such a list being called a pillory, it's not by chance.

Pikaso, you ask for more information on GMs decisions and that's different from the opening post's suggestion.
I will leave it to the GMs to debate this ;)
I will only say that petty fights, rancor and ridicule are very real on online games.

What I saw is some greek people wanting to have a Pillory, in the meantime we have a world population who keep writing report. I know it's easy to schematize the problem, but I don't know, maybe it's an internal problem in Greece, because this topic stay on the top greek poster after greek poster.

...or maybe the Greek community being so active is interested in improving the game and has already discussed this issue thoroughly in internal thread that decided is an idea worth discussing further and putting it out there for everyone to discuss further. The fact the there is greek poster after greek poster should not be an issue of "concern" instead it just shows that some people have strong views and arguments on a particular topic, and want to hear other/different views!!!

We already have many reports by people who are just surveying their leaguemate or opposing bidder. I can assure you that many of them will not go see a Pillory.

..and equaly I can assure you there are others that do report and would go see a Pillory. I dont think the matter in question is about who does and who doesnt, rather whether its an overall improvement of the game

------------------
I respect your personal view, and that in your mind it would not stop cheaters, it would not motivate reporters further and it would not add anything to the game, but at the same time its obvious (from the posts) that others have a different view, and perhaps its something that BBs might consider.

The point is not to have an argument, rather to have a suggestion thread with pros and cons for people to discuss and for BBs to evaluate and decide.

I think both group have given their opinion and nothing new will get out now.

Sorry for late answer. There is a third group, me. I'm partly for it. Probably Pillory would have some benefits. But it can't be implemented to the game in the way the topistarter proposes. And there are some reasons which make it almost impossible to be added(game policy).

Spoiled reputation
Sometimes(very-very rarely) the users get unbanned due to some reason. The user will be mentioned at that page though he did not cheat. Then we should move him to anti-pillory. Right? His reputation will be spoiled. And adding the sentence: User XX was unbanned will cause even more rumours and questions.

Game policy
The GMs can't discuss which kind of penalty is applied to which kind of offending rules. We can only say that all kinds of rules offending are followed by punishment. Creating a list showing what kind of penalty is given to the definite kind of cheating will destroy this policy. It will also create some problems to GMs(and we can't tell of them due to GM-privacy reasons).

Personally I am for pillory. It has lots of beneits, true.. But in the way it is proposed - it is not possible to be added. I've tried to imagine some other way how it could be done without breaking 2 factors mentioned above and failed.
I understand and support this suggestion as a user. But I am against this as a staff member. Sorry.

As for what a pillory is, i believe there have been a few opinions both in favor and against the idea and I have a very good idea what a pillory is.

As it was mentioned now its for the BBs to consider and decide.

@GM-alexFerguson
