First thing, you can draft good rookies very easily in this game contrary to popular belief. I have literally made 3.5 million dollars off of selling rookies in the last 4 seasons...only one season out of the four I didn't make over 800k and that was because I kept all three players.(some I trained for a year, some I sold after a few weeks)

Not including the one I kept, who has decent value as he's fairly versatile.

The point being, I have no intention of selling him as I only spend a meagre 140k per season in scouting(his value is worth more than that alone, and with the money I made from the other players he was all but free. And he's extremely serviceable at any level up to about DII which I won't be in for a while. A level 5 trainer and he's rapidly improving and should be a pretty tremendous point guard for me in the Patient offense.

I could easily fetch around 500k for him as well if I wanted to go that route.

Secondly, I made a huge amount of money selling players and I simply BOUGHT a high potential(MVP) small forward prospect. When you do it correctly, you can buy them very cheap. I only spent 400k for this trainee who I will be training until he's 27. Obviously not very money inefficient.....truth be told, I have plenty of it, and turn a sizable profit every week. My only regret was being impatient and overpaying for some of my stars on my team right now. But there is literally no reason not to train at any level.

I hope I am not offending anyone but I know a funny story about USA division V. A guy was in division V in USA the season before the salary floor came in. He had three 18 year old trainees but besides them just bought players for $1,000 each week, won most of his games, fired them before sunday night and paid close to nothing each week in salaries. He won his division doing that and was promoted. I don't know how much he made but it was a fortune!

Oh, absolutely! Getting out of most V series really just involves understanding what game shape is, and if you have the sense to bank enthusiasm that pretty much almost clinches it.

so lets move on...i hope. If yall have anymore to say I'll be polite and respond, but at this point I could see it going in a circle again and maybe not a good road to go down.

Please do keep responding if you think you have anything to add! While I really don't see myself being a trader, the different perspectives are always good, as long as nobody is preaching too hard. ;)

Yet your big folly is assuming that most DIV managers are new. This is not the case. I know many DIV managers that have been in the same league for many seasons and have very good teams, I also know many DIII teams that get bumped down and stuck there.

Plenty of DIV teams can afford training.

Especially buying an 18 year old superstar/MVP for less than 500k. Even a new team can afford that if they are smart and play the draft well. In the lower divisions you can make a killing in the draft because inactive don't scout. I drafted last in the previous season and walked away with an MVP 6'1 PG 3.8 salary....sold him for 800k. Easy money.

I think you have been very lucky with your drafts (and I admit I have too) but they aren't all like that. In my league last season there was only one good player in the entire draft and even he was listed MANY times before finally selling for $750,000. I am not aware of another player from the draft selling for more than $21,000. Seriously.

He was fired by his manager who didn't think he was worth selling for $1.

It's still a gold mine, just that there's very little gold in the mine at times.

I've been at this for a long time, of course I've seen terrible drafts like that.

Im very confused about that 18 year old that was fired. Even if by a fluke he had pitiful OD, he could've at least sold him for 100k or something. That happened to my brother once and he managed to get about that much for a player like that.

Speaking of which, I personally hate them, but his team is basically founded off of 19 year olds that he drafted. Three of his starters were 19. Granted two of them were bigs with very high initial salaries, but it is definitely noteworthy that he's doing okay in DIII with that strategy.

So...I would've taken Symonds, but worst come to worst, a 19 year old 6'4 5/4 wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. Although I honestly can't remember the last time I intentionally took a 19 year old.
