What's the point? Where is the challenge in that way?
Most of the communitty wont even value a title earned this way
Now it isnt a question of ligit or not it simpley against the game spirit
And the sport spirit, the whole point is to try to be competetive within
The budget limitiation (plus or minus ) , not to explode and vanish.

We are all brave and willing to take the challenge of b3 but with even budget
Thats the whole point. Now you can certainley strength your squad with raising
The budget a little but what you are doing is suicide

Plus 1 to you.

I wont be exploding and vanishing, Ive been around for 22 odd seasons and sacrificed lots to train up 3 SFs.

If you want to put a suggestion into the suggestion thread that an upper limit on salaries be introduced, do so but meanwhile I will play within the rules.

Where is the line, is it okay for teams to have a million dollar roster and lose money or is the moral high ground 1.2 mill?

The over extension tax, the time taken to restore gameshapes for players after being brought & interest on debt, are all mechanisms that are already in the game that helps prevent buy ups.

I know that you dont see it, but I spent much of last season making a profit against teams that were losing money yet managed to finish the season 3 or so games ahead of the rest

The only differences to my team since the middle of last season are; Riviera out (due to dropping skills) replaced by Pichon (like for like) and Lie, Ott & Palmeri all out and replaced with 3 x 200 K players.

Game is a managerial one and I dare say that there would be several of the other 32 teams who will be running with over 1.2 mill in player salaries

To be honest I had no expectation of winning the ABBL last season, my aim was to continue to train my 3 SFs and avoid relegation. Some how I ended the season 3 games ahead.

Where would the sport be in winning the same ABBL trophy 5 or 6 seasons in a row which I probably could have done as my SFs were all still improving and what impact would an impending long reign by myself in Australia have had on the other ABBL Managers?

Some other really great posts in this thread, love the one on culture

Mloty Staguard and Dyonisos have proven that it is possible to win B3 even against huge salaries. I won't bet automatically for Sid on this one to be honest.

I absolutely agree.

Ive tried to put myself in a position where I am a real chance of winning, but anything including injuries can happen in this game

Well, I appreciate your opinion, and the manner you expressed it. My point is, that with the over-extension tax, this tactic has been severely penalized. Should BBs go further, possibly with a hard cap? Certainly debatable :)

I would also like to support Sid's national argument, which possibly went unnoticed. I do think it's better for, in this case Australian community, to have a manager bursting for a B3 title, rather than holding a crown in Australia for a long period of time.

Clearly you need to sell up to appease the buza community and buy up again after the cup final

Starting to think of selling Ryder or Williams off part way through next season and trying to mount a campaign for next seasons B3 as well , just to prove to a few people that my approach is actually semi sustainable, when undertaken in short bursts

This has certainly been bad for India. We've had two teams who successively tanked for many seasons, built up 20 million+ and then bought salary efficient players. How is that any different from spending a lot of money in one season and why should that be penalized as opposed to tanking for 10 seasons?

Different ways of playing as there are in the NBA and different choices. Don't be so quick to judge.

this thread is going way off topic mate...
this debate of the 'right' way to manage is never ending.wouldnt it be better to discuss the B3 games, something this thread was originally created for

Okay and thankyou for refocusing me.

Ive had a quick look at the first eight teams who comprise the light blue quarter of the draw.

Please understand that I have added the players salaries up via a calculator so it is possible that keyboard entry mistakes could have occurred and also that teams salaries are not necessarily an accurate indication as to how good a team is.

Injuries and purchase can still occur in the next 4 days.

Also I havent studied recent form, players gameshapes or likely team enthusiam levels
