Pio Reina: OK guys, I know you’re all mad for different reasons. Let’s look at this rationally. Byron, what did we lose with Corro being sold?
Byron Helm: A solid big with two potential defensively, who could rebound, block shots, and pass the rock.
PR: I don’t dispute that, and those are all qualities we like to see, but could he score, was he a monster on the boards, and did we lose anything other than a bit of depth?
BH: When you put it like that, he was actually disappointing.
PR: Exactly. We didn’t acquire him to be a bench piece, but he played himself into that role by not producing. Clears a spot for us to get Vendrell on the floor more. Now compare Vendrell to Corro.
BH: Better shooter, better scorer, looks to be better in most ways given proper development. He’s younger. Not the passer or two way defender Corro was.
PR: OK, now keep in mind Ozver has played his way into more time, also at Corro’s expense. What does he bring?
BH: Everything I said about Vendrell applies, except Vendrell is the better scorer over Ozver. Ozver can be better than Corro but isn’t quite yet. Ozver flashes that two way defensive ability, is a superior rebounder, and is also younger than Corro.
PR: So what did we lose? Passing? We can replace his rebounding, offense and defense. We already had in house.
BH: When you put it like that, you’re not wrong.
PR: Marshall, I know you’re mad about Enfes. Twaruschek is a clone who is better offensively though not as good defensively. You liked being able to put him at a few positions, but did you really lose anything? Twarushcek can do a lot of those things, we still have Beko who can do a lot of those things, you just saw Ozver at small forward who looks like he can do some of those things, and Antti Reinholm is younger and can replace everything but the shooting. He’s better defensively, a better passer, and the shooting just might catch up. We also still have Carlos Frias, so what exactly are we losing?
Marshall Richards: Point made.
PR: Guys, we’ve been trying to move them for most of the season. Why does this bother you now?
MR: Timing. We could have used them. Organization XIII is going to be a tough one tonight.
BH: What he said.
PR: Air, you look like you have something you need to get off your chest.
Air Allnite: I know Marshall and Byron are going to borrow Simmons from me and see if he can become a proper threat inside. Why haven’t they done that with Bodura?
PR: Now that we have Simmons and Reinholm, they can. You‘ve done nice work with Pasman on offense, by the way. No one thought this kid would be putting in 10 a night or shooting 40% from three, but here we are.
AA: There’s still a little more to unlock. Now I get to work on Reinholm too. Let’s just not forget about the defense.
MR: Air talking defense? What is the world coming to?
PR: The real question is what is our GM looking to pull off? He's not just going to sit back? He's got something in mind. An upgrade. But where? Anyway, gentlemen let's talk tactics. We need to take better care of the ball on offense, and the press has not been working quite as well as we wanted. How do we want to fix that, Marshall?
MR: I'm glad you asked! I have an idea...
