There'd be no TIE to increase enthusiasm upward. Enthusiasm stays at 10 until you CT (which, as proposed, had a noticeably lower effect on the game and the drop in enthusiasm).

Kind of like how a team starts the beginning of the season. Clean slate, recharged and with fresh goals for the season ahead. Over the season pushing too hard (CT'ing too much), losing, etc, wear down the team.


Ah, so. I missed that part.

On OK change, but until CT becomes uncertain, it rates only a shrug from me.

You should not be certain that CT will work. Perhaps a one-third chance your team would not get the benefit, but you still take the enthusiasm drop. That would force coaches to really think about using up this resource.

I guess I'm unsure of your position. Disregarding the recommendation, you prefer to keep enthusiasm as it is or not have any TIE/CT enthusiasm at all? Basically, which end of the spectrum of this debate are you?

I agree that CT shouldn't provide a certain result, that's why I brought this idea up. As proposed, the effect of CT on the game would be lessened, along with the resulting drop in enthusiasm due to CT'ing. CT would be a nice little boost to get your team up for the big game, but not the "nuclear" option that it is today (even with the recent lowering of effect on TIE, and CT, it's still a pretty big effect).

Everybody talks about the 'added strategy' of TIE/CT but in reality the collusion aspect between friends makes this a joke. There is no strategy when two teams decide to TIE before a game so they can gain an edge on the other teams in the league.

There fore I would prefer no enthusiasm at all. However, I doubt very much that will happen, so a change is necessary that does at least two things:

1) Eliminates the opportunity for collusion;
2) Makes the effect of CT uncertain. By that I mean a coach can't count on the benefit (that is, higher ratings for one game) but he CAN count on his team's enthusiasm level dropping.

I agree 100% with everything you are saying. Addressing those two issues was core to the ideas I proposed. What would you change to original proposal to meet your concerns?

4 - If you CT and win, Enthusiasm will drop less, maybe half as much Your coach just got your fired up for big game and you lost, suck! Your not quite going to get back up for the next big game the same way if you had pulled off a win in that game.


Your best idea. I could live with this.

I would like the 'benefit' of CT to be less than the benefit of a home game, however. So if you are playing a better team on the road, the better team will still get a higher net 'adjustment' (what ever that means in game terms). That would make telling a team to CT on the road is gamble. At home, it is a good bet. That would be semi-realistic for me.

As it is now, I think the changes this season were to lower CT to the point that it would be about the same as home court advantage. I proposed a slight decrease in the effect of CT (maybe reduce it 1/4th what it is now, whatever, the BB's could pinpoint that), which would make it less effective than the home court advantage.

It would be nice to hear from the BB's that they actually read these threads and are considering changing enthusiasm.

If not, we are all just wasting our time.

I don't think the word has anything to do with it - it's the concept, and no I don't think a player by player solution would be good.
