Forrest is right -- unfortunately, there really is no fair retroactive solution to unexpected downtime. Our site is designed to let people bid on players up to three days in advance, and we let people set a starting price they are happy with.

Of course, we will always try to minimize any downtime with the site, but there are often factors beyond our control at play.

In the future, I would advise everyone to list their players for an initial value such that they would not be unhappy if the players sold for that much. That is the surest way of making sure you are covered in the event of a situation like this.

Good advice. Setting a very low initial price is good to get early bids and higher interest in the player, but it is a risk to take. Most of the time your player get sold at a a good price if he is any good by having low initial bid, so even if the risk is relatively small in regards to that, and the chance that the site is down is relatively small, unfortunately it can happen. Better be safe than sorry, and I am sorry for all those affected. You have my sympathies, but after thinking it through I also see that the least unfair way to adjust, is not adjusting at all.

You sure know that - like in any other auction - 99% of the bids are made within the last few minutes of the auction, so it is better to set a low initial price to stimulate the interest in your items or in this case players. Luckily I set a mediocre price so I did not lose too much, but a few hundred k are still a nice amount of money if it comes to buying a player in the price range of around a million.

There are plenty of fair solutions I could think of but all of them bring huge problems with them, so I understand you dont want to do anything about that - especially now a few days after the problem ocurred.

Yes, and this is a classic risk vs. reward type of scenario.

Maybe it is - but I seriously doubt anybody in this game would consider the risk of servers breaking down including other players not being able to bid on his auctions (that implies that in the past the stability of the server was outstanding - to include some positive feedback once in a while).

If the auctions couldnt be terminated on the usual terms they should have been cancelled or delayed.

Now please close this thread as we wont find another solution on this topic anyway as the officals already said they wont do anyting about it.
