And, I didn't notice that a higher rebounding raises the salary of SGs a lot...

ok, we are talking different language... I agree with you. After say that I add that even if all the players on a team have to keep rebounds, in my opinion they've to keep rebound following their own rebound skill. I don't understand why a player with lvl 5 in rebound has an average of 6 rebounds per match (for example) and a lvl 10 in rebound has an average of 5 rebounds per match.

Maybe the guy with lvl5 reb is his teams best rebounder, by skill. Perhaps he plays opposition that is worse that the guy who has lvl10 reb. There are so many variables to consider. Ofcourse there is random aswell.

Personally I think the rebounds algorithm works something like this.
When Missed Shot
Distribute Rebound by zone.
10% Zone1 - BP Team A vs BP Team B
15% Zone2 - BL Team A vs BL Team B
20% Zone3 - EXT Team A vs EXT Team B
25% Zone4 - EP Team A vs EP Team B
30% Zone5 - P Team A vs P Team B

If ur oponent BL has really poor rebound (1 or 2 is very possible), and urs has lets say 5, he will have a big number of rebounds.
Obviously this is not that linear and has a hole lot of more variables, but clearly assists don't work anything like this.
the assists match the passing/handling of player A(passer) + passing/handling of player B(receiver) VS OD of player 1 + OD of player2.

just my 2 cents

note: these numbers are pure speculation just used to ilustrate an example.

I think rebounding depends a lot of match up...
For example:
lvl 15 vs lvl 15 P
lvl 10 vs lvl 6 AP
Lvl 10 AP will take more rebounds on that game.

I've a lvl 1 in reb and he has 2,5 reb per match as average, a lvl 1 in passage has around zero assist per match

Like Kukoc said, there must be rebounds assigned in every game. Assists are created by pure passing skill, rebounds are created by missed shots. If you have no passing ability, you wont create any assists. If you have no rebounding skill, there are ~50 missed shots a game and one may bounce your way.

In addition, there is a HUGE difference between a low level 1 and a high level 1. I have a player with low level 1 passing. He has 1 career assist in ~10 seasons.

One final point: I place a large emphasis on rebounding for my big men. I usually win the rebounding battle overall. Sometimes a lower level rebounder grabs 20 boards and my best only grabs half that amount. It may be the equivalent of why your respectable-inept shooting center went 5-5 behind the 3 and your Prolific-Proficient SG went 0-5...matchups.
