I've gotta say, I'm not really sure what this delayed construction adds to the game.

Can I ask what the game play thinking behind that rule is?

Realism? Construction delays and overestimation are about as realistic as you get get :)

One solution I've heard proposed which would seem reasonable (please let me know if you think it would be better) is to have the arena estimate turn into a real number of days immediately at the moment you complete the order, so that once the order is finished you will know when the arena gets completed.

It's still more realistic this way, but it would allow teams to plan a little better.

If nothing else making that change would cut down on the number of bug reports about the arena being stuck. I think it would a good improvement and at least let people know when they should report a legitimate issue.

The fun solution is creating a bunch of messages (not just a couple, but a lot of them) stating the reason for the delay - this should also cut down the bug reporting. The current system is okay, but it's certainly not very clear.

After the initial estimate ("We think it will take 10 days, a fortnight tops.") when you press "build", give a date ("Finished on xx-xx-xxxx.") for the completion of the expansion, but allow some change to take place even after that ("Err, sir, the thing is my crew was out having a drink and they all ended up in jail. I need a day or two to get them out. Don't worry."). I'm sure many would hate this, but I personally don't like the idea of arena expansions for specific games at all and this way it is certainly discouraged.

If there's already a range in the estimate, then there really is no need to have further alteration once the expansion starts.

That just adds a layer of misinformation that the original estimate would be designed to prevent.

i appreciate a slight random or unknown factor.

i and a rival recently upgraded stadium..mine small on sunday for 9 days... thinking by thursday week (if) i have a cup home game that should be plenty of time.. my rival went for a monster upgrade which on monday when i bb mailed him he had 17 days to go and i said congrats its worth the wait...

my arena extension has moved only 2 (TWO) days since Sunday (now SAT!) i am still on 7 days!!! his when we mailed each on 11/2 had 17 days he now has 12....

Thats 5 days movement for him and 0 for me..... his upgrade is 5 x bigger than mine which i suppose doesnt creep into the argument but my guys are working (or not) as the case maybe less than 30% of the time......

Well another day less in the last 3!

So that gives me 6 days to wait from the original 9 after 9 days.....

This delay is ridiculous.

When they say - we dont want you to be able to build seats for a certain day what is the logic behind this? Surely if you are on a decent cup run you would want to calculate if an extension is worthwhile... its not as if you can pump in 3000 seats in 5 days? Maximum upgrade in less than a week is only 500 seats ish.

Whats next buying a player off the TL and then having a message saying sorry he didnt arrive in time for his medical today - the earliest he can sign papers is tomorrow afternoon...

Because we dont want you to be able to sign a certain player in time for a game you might need him!

Its random, next time when you do a big upgrade you might still wait for a month for it :p And also you could ahve few 2 day jumps now nad he could get stuck on his 5 days.. and so on. don't envy other :P

PS! i would envy him too tho :P
