I HATE HATE HATE these forums.

Just spent 30 mins on a huge detailed statistical analysis of the draft only to get "oops" you go back and get nothing. So pathetic.

I guess you win this discussion, I am not going to go through all of that again but I will share my conclusion...

In my league draft there were 0 x ATG, 0 x HoF, 1 x 19 year old $2,500 salary MVP, 2 superstars neither trainable, so the best potential guy was one p-all-star with less than $4,000 salary. There were in total 2 guys with > $5,000 salary, neither great. No-one won. The only winning strategy if you had first pick or last pick was to spend $0 on the draft.

Yeah, you have to be careful with long messages ;)

I hear what you're saying, but my only conclusion is your league had a bad draft. It happens. You can chose to spend $ 0 next year, but who's to say there won't be a Blake Griffin in that one?
Some drafts are good, some aren't, just like in real life. You pay to find out.

It's sad but it's true.

It's just the end of a cycle. It made sense to invest because there was a demand for young trainees with potential. After a few seasons like this the demand is down and the price drop. It's not sad, you can still get a excellent piece for your team's future that is worth some investment in the draft, but you could argue the community as a whole speculated on the draft and it hit a peak and now it's not worth investing to sell draftees. That's the nature of the market in this game.
Increasing the quality of the draft will not solve this problem, it will only delay it before an even bigger market crash. You can blame speculators and day traders for this one.

Well I would be less sad but I train guards and the guys I have drafted in both of the last two seasons have both had atrocious JS. Atrocious!

Yes this is the other factor with the free agent tsunami. training players is almost not worthwile now. I saw a well trained 21 year old guard go for $400,000 the other day. Why spend 3 seasons training?

Investing 40k in the draft costs more than 500k/season. The % of getting a hot prospect in the draft is rather low. Even you get a hot prospect and train him for 4 seasons you won't get much $ when he is put on sale. So why invest money on the draft? I'm investing $0 and this will remain for a long time if things don't change.
Due to the strong market deflation we are facing the BBs should cut drastically the costs of weekly draft investiments.
