Definitely a good idea if you want to upset users and kill motivation.

I would quote UcanUwill which I strongly support:
I would love to have career ending injuries. It is the same as your proposed death, only death is wrong term in a game IMO. Career ending injury, simple.

In addition I would say that the injuries should be a little less random.
A player who has higher stamina should be less fragile (the randmenss should have less propability on his case, but not zero...).
A player who plays "Run'n'Gun" or "Pressure" should have higher chances to get injured.
Players that are part of a very close game, has higher tendancy to get injured.
Players who are exhausted (weekm game or seasoin level) tend to have higher risk to be injured.

And so on.

And yes, you pay your top dollar and training time, and then your player is get injured (for a week or for life).
This is life, and that is what happens in real BB-teams.
It should be the same here.

Right, because I´m getting paid big time dollars as a Team Manager to get hold of such a situation I should face the reality of my franchise player (and therefore hours and hours of work and pretty much everything for some teams) disappearing from one day to the next.

Do you ever think before posting anything?

Team managers get paid for making their work in life. It should be the same here.

Thank you for proving that this was a good idea!!!
If Real-managers do that, so do you.
This game is exactly about that - being a BB-manager!

Maybe death wasn't the right word. But all of you have to admit, careers can often be ended by injuries. You want the most realistic game don't you?

Yes, let's spend lots of draft $$$ to get a once in a lifetime HOF player, train him for several seasons, prime time for a huge transfer sale, and the day he's listed, he "dies".

On a day where David Stern pulled a real dandy out of his bag of tricks, this one is right up there.

So no to realism, then?

We should also have the BB's sometimes block transfers if they feel it's not in the best interest of BB. We should also have managers die sometimes. That happens in real life too, right? How about arenas getting destroyed by natural disasters? Also let's have some economic recessions. Everyone who complains about lack of realism should be all for these.

yeah!

add some doping scandals and lawsuits (maybe like sexual harassement, breach of contract and so on) to the game! all for the sake of realism.

holla!

All of those bunch of reasons why are the same - "Scandal", "Death", etc. are all the same "Carreer-ending event".
Like two pointers could be described as a two-handed dunk, a mid-range shot, etc.
In this flash game it is not realy interesting what have happened, but what is the result.

The idea of "Carreer-ending event" is a very good one.
Users/BB-managers should be planing for unexpected events and to respond to one as fast as they can.
This is part of BB-managing, and this is why we are all part of this game - we want to experience the world of BB-managing.

Personally, I'm not quite sure what to think of this. I agree with you guys that yes, this would make the game much more realistic but if I had trained someone since they were 18 and then they "died" right before they were about to get on the NT, I think I'd be pissed. I'm not so sure about life ending injuries, but maybe they should add some discipline skill so to say, where the lower it is, the higher of a chance the player will get into trouble off the court. That way you would know exactly what you were getting into.
