Now we've got a fair few active posters who are (mostly) nice to each other, I'd like to propose a prediction competition.

I'm calling it Pick 3.

Choose any 3 fixtures (not including your own) from Tuesday's games and predict a winner and margin of victory.

If you successfully pick a home winner, you get 2 points.
If you successfully pick an away winner, you get 3 points.

If your margin of victory is within 2 points of the actual victory margin, you get double points!

Finally, if you successfully predict an OT winner (instead of a margin of victory) you get triple points!!!

Entries must be posted/last edited one hour before tip off. If there's lots of interest, I'll open up a thread, otherwise just use this one.

Good idea! A bit complicated though.... too many" doubles" and "triples" ;) We could start today too. ;)

well, makes for more strategy.

I always found the pick a winner for all games every round a bit of a pain. I was going for once a week, with a bit of strategy.

I figure we all log in over the weekend at some point, so looking at Tuesdays games and picking your 3 could become part of that.

wow interesting start off the season...

i have no idea how i won tonight and it almost looked like it that I would throw away my lead, but somehow I managed to pull it off.

Winning tonight with Mackenzie being injured and playing only three minutes is a better than hoped start.

and what a performance by Ghanian Super Star Maal...

a few other surprises too. People underestimating HCA especially at the start off the season or just freak results like my win tonight??

prediction competition

I probably would have got 2 out of the 8 today, some right funny results.

Things I noticed:
1) Look Inside might not be very good anymore (Ashington v Gauson)
2) Risk and Reward is gonna be really good
3) Gibraltar Monkeys gets REALLY angry when you remake his threads

3) That one I consider my fault, I scouted Gib yesterday and thanks to the bloody England call ups cluttering up the news didn't notice the brand spanking new pretty-damn-expensive-C that was signed today. That wasn't a pleasant surprise at tip off, having him lined up against my 20 yr old trainee (who I'd tried to sneak starter training minutes for). He went -27 on +/- :-S

I should also have seen the 2-3 coming after you'd won with it - and played Anderson or Stanway at PG instead of Vega. Cribier can't defend both of them, and Redman is limited in his OD.

So, I could/should have narrowly won that game despite the TIE vs PN.

Still, I didn't and I got my a$$ well and truly kicked instead, so well done da monkeys!

he is probably going to CT me after I said this. but I dont think risk and reward is "really" good

I am a little suprised to see some teams with alot off experience starting with a neutral offense, counting on their guards to make the difference, when someone like me knows (and i have a crap understanding off the GE) that guards the first 1-2-3 weeks off the season need to warm up. It is nice they make bigs defend better with SBing but really the guards not shooting as well in comparison to bigs, taking into account similar salaries is the real problem...

All I know is that I am going to be in trouble Tuesday, because I cant see Tata make three misstakes in 2 seasons and will underestimate anyone anytime soon again...
