He took the semi-joking post as a declaration of war. Semi-joking as in, I thought it was obvious that I was exaggerating my true feelings from the fact that I typed the final word in ALL CAPS and used 3, count them, 3, exclamation points at the end, hence hinting that I wasn't seriously calling it a conspiracy, but still wanted an explanation as to why you would TIE with no more competitive games to use that extra enthusiasm on. And for the record, I said fudge. Big difference.

I only started calling him names when it was clear that not only would he give me the time of day, but he was also going to treat me like his own personal toilet and s*** all over me.

Whether there was match fixing going on or not, you're not gaining anything by fighting. Just because someone insulted you, doesn't mean you have to insult him back; you can't fight fire with fire.
Remember that this is just a game.

You live in another country so your culture is different. You think going to other countries forum and posting something the would rile up that forum netizens feelings is your idea of joke is fun? If you did it in our forums also you'd probably get the same reaction even more violent. Posting something in an internet forum is different than talking to a person face to face. I've gotten into so many internet brawls just because I read someone's post differently. Stop and think of that point also. Don't keep on insisting you got aggrieved nor insist that a team with nothing more to play for should just make life difficult for some other team just for the heck of it.

I really don't get whats the difference between facing HK or China in the semis. HK may have a better record no loss but China isn't a pushover also even with two losses in the second round. Having a better lineup doesn't necessarily mean that team is sure to win. All our Asian Championships were won by teams which we deemed no chance of winning it all but by luck we did. "The ball is round so anything can happen" is a favorite saying we have in our country.

China TIE-ed us. I guess they knew we're on low enthusiasm after the CT agaisnt Taiwan.

Champions are those who kept fighting till the end. Even if we lost, we are still the Champion. "The Queen - We Are The Champions"

Sigh. So much e-drama by one whiner. You do realise that your behaviour is a reflection of your community’s (at least in the eyes of Malaysians) since you decide to go all wah!wah! wah! and speak up for, and inadvertently represent your community, on every board you can post in?

Let’s take a look at the “different” treatment my in replies.

The first is from your U21 manager, who at least had the class to send me a private message enquiring about the situation, rather than posting a “WTF(udge).. CONSPIRACY!!!” post on our Malaysian National forums. Since he approached the topic respectfully and politely, he was replied in kind. Case in reference, our exchange of posts in the NT forums.

You on the other hand, are throwing accusations of match-fixing and pointing fingers, wherever and whenever you can. Your own National forums, ours and even here. Swearing and name-calling when things don’t go your way as well. My replies were curt and short, perhaps, but I didn’t not stoop to your level with name-calling (then).

In short, you’ve been a total douche about the entire situation, then whining about being treated like douche.

What did you expect? Me to be all sugar and spice to someone being passive-aggressive? Get real dude. Had you approached the situation in a classier way, you would have been treated in kind.

That being said, which part of my reply to you was an aggressive or rude reaction to an obviously provocative post in our forums. It was a simple statement of fact:

last I checked:

1) I run the U21 for my country, not you
2) I answer to my community, not you or yours
3) we decide what enthu to use
4) you don't know if we decided to TIE, Normal or CT.

At least your U21 manager is classier and sent a PM, rather than post something like this on our forums

edit: I take that back. perhaps not quite as classy as I thought after all
cheers.

Then came more even more WAH! WAH! WAH! You cheatorz crap. ZOMG MATCHFIXING!!!!1!!! on every board you can post in.

My reluctance to share our rationale and reasoning behind the enthu decision is based on two simple facts:

1) It reveals Philippines’ enthusiasm
2) It is OUR team, not Australia’s, not yours, not anyone elses – OURS. We do not owe you or anyone any explanations

Since it’s been totally blown out of proportion and your whining has become somewhat even more epic, and it affects not just my own community’s reputation but Philippine’s’ as well. I’ll say more than I intended to and explain a little.

I received a PM from Iran’s U21 manager TELLING us to TIE because we had no chance to beat them as they were the host team. And to use our enthu on two other teams instead. Emphasis on the word TELLING.

While it may have been a language barrier, obviously we didn’t fancy the tone of the message. We looked at the situation, and decided as a community that Iran was still the best chance we had for an upset. So, we CTed them because it was what we felt was our best shot at making the next round, and partly for their U21 managers’ bullying tone.

We lost by 5 points and that effectively ended our run.

Fast-forward many games later, to Malaysia vs Philippines. We get a PM from the U21 requesting a TIE. Key word, REQUESTING. So I shared the request with our community and this was what we thought:

1) We had close to no shot of beating the Philippines even with CT - TIE
2) We had a better shot of improving our rankings through scrimmages

And as an added bonus:
3) The self-professed all powerful hosts wouldn’t make the next round

I hate to burst your bubble, but Australia never crossed our minds at all.

All we were considering was what would be the best course for our NT both in terms of ranking and satisfaction. And we came to this decision as a community. And stand by it as a community.

At the end of the day, this is a PEOPLE and community game. How you interact with people, affects how they react to you.
