You never saw me say how it works ? I say quite often though.

In every country, it's conference ranking first, then W/L ratio, then point-average.

For Utopia, it's not clear yet.

I did. But, maybe because I found it stupid that a 19-3 third placed team would not be promoted over a 14-8 second placed one, I always persuaded myself that you might be wrong

OK, I guess it's time we clear this up. Promotion will work like this:
1. Conference champions (teams that reach the league finals) automatically promote (circa 80 leagues * 2 = 160 teams)
2. this leaves 256 - circa 160 = circa 96 spots to be filled by these criteria (in order)
- conference rank
- wins
- forfeits
- point difference
- points made

This means, in practice, that a the top ranked, non-conference champion teams are all mixed up together and the top ranked ones will be promoted. This, of course, means that some leagues may have only 2 promoting teams, other ones may have 4 or 5 or even more promoting teams!

However, we still reserve the right to change this if we think of a better promotion strategy, but basically this is the option which is probably going to be used.

Most of us can't play Cup & league this first year but don't you think that Cup winner or finalists may have the opportunity of promoting ?

sorry, but apart from the fact that you even try to change the rules while the game is still played- which really really anoyes me, cause i think that´s a fact that cannot be done, cause this is simply not fair - this seems not a good solution for me.

this would mean, that teams which are now starting a utopian team and get to a new conference/league could end up promoting, other teams which have played the season since starting utopia, can´t promote. Furthermore managers who end up beeing in a very competitive league will have a really hard time, cause out of the most competitive leagues there will only promote 2 teams (cause you can´t receive a really good winning percentage in such a league), but teams from the least competitive leagues will promote.

if i compare that to your marketing tag of utopia "most competitive country, only the best will get through" then its a really really sarcastic promotion rule.

the only thing which i like is, that the 2 conference champions will promote.

and the next question, which has never been answered is, how you want to mix the league iv and remove the league IV.65 upwards, starting next season.... Sorry, but i can´t help myself, it seems that the rules have never been thought of before starting utopia- which in my mind isn´t a good thing to see....
