Australia CT'd by the Nguyens.
(31961)

Vietnam threw some hard punches, but Australia managed to stay on its feet with a 22pt win in Singapore. The strategy run by the Aussie coach was a chance for a few of the sharp shooters to show what they can do, With CIA and newest member, O'reilly thriving with the open looks. Kewell also upped the defensive pressure, accumulating more steals than points.

For Vietnam, L, V, N and T Nguyen all contributed. Chium also had a career night, knocking in 45 points in 48 minutes.

MVPs
3 votes- CIA (23pts, 4 assists)
2 votes- O'Reilly (15pts, 4 rebs, 4ass, 3 stls)
1 vote- Phan (12pts, 10 rebs, 2 blks)

Next game is Malaysia, game shapes are varying with cup interests, and a few players are training well with the u21 team in their sights.

Yes it seems odd but with such a well trained and well run team the result was the same. Keep up the excellent work!

Aussies 4-0, beat Malaysia 84-67 (31963)

A well fought win by the boys in green and gold to hold the Malaysians to just 67pts. Our shooting percentage was down, but holding them to 34% for the game allowed us to still win comfortably.

MVPs
3 votes- Cortez Ryan (19pts, 14 boards)
2 votes- Phan (14pts, 7-9 fg%, 7 boards)
1 vote- Maverick (14pts, 4 boards)

Our next game will be interesting, facing Taiwan, who lost to China by 2pts tonight (31964)

Australia downed in exciting match vs Taiwan
(31966)

In a tough fought out game the Aussies have dropped their first game for the season, losing by 3 points to Taiwan. Both teams were hungry for the win to secure a first place finish in Pool A. Australia went in with less than ideal game shape, although some of the key players were in top form.

For Taiwan, "the french Mankini" was unstoppable, falling one assist shy of a national team triple double. Throwing out 9 dimes from the PF position was an outstanding show.

MVPS
3 votes- Maverick Parkes (19pts, 5 rebs, 4 assists).
2 votes- Cortez Ryan (17pts on 61%FG, 5 rebs, 3 ass, 3 stls)
1 vote- Kewell (15pts, 6 assists, 4 rebs)

Our next game is a big game against China, determining where each of the top teams will finish before the next round.

Game shape, game shape, game shape.

I feel that Kewell really should've gotten the three points over Zidane. He was the better player on both offence and defence.

Hamburger meanwhile should get minus one point for stupidly chucking up 10 threes when that's not his game.

Doesn't bode well to be blown-out despite getting a GDP call right, even if it was against China in a meaningless phase one group game...
