Take this with a grain of salt because I don't have any evidence except my own impressions. Scoring ratings on our big men were not as good as you'd expect from the difference in team ratings: PF had 1.096 per attempt and C had 1.123. Our opponent scoring ratings were actually better than our team's and better than their overall team ratings would otherise suggest (PF 1.092, C 1.247, also note that their C was on average GS and had the lowest individual rating of the entire team, even lower than the 40k 23yo PG).

I've now seen a lot of games that do not make sense based on team ratings, but actually make more sense when factoring in the individual scoring ratings at the key offensive positions. I suppose it depends on matchups and skills which are undervalued in the team ratings such as DR/JR for the offensive player or SB for the player guarding him.

The other thing which is often present in games like this is huge differences in FT. Clearly our opponents did a great job getting to the line and converting. They got a ton of FTs, but again that should be due to the difference in effort and matchups.

The 2 things might be connected: it's possible that scoring ratings do factor in FT likelihood while team ratings do not.

So many fouls:-( what SB level have our SF-PF-C ? 1 block in full game is a tragedy. Can't block opponent and fouling all the time.

Armada after last update 1.2M dmi, ready for call up:-)

Fouls were a bit skewed if you watch the game, 6 of them were the last minute fouls from the 1 min losing position. 9 of their FT points were from this last minute. However I agree 19-23 for their FT is higher that I would like. Having said that, this is and remains a completely freak result.

In response to the SB question. I think I would be in complete agreement with the entire community by asking that these figures are not shared.

How about sharing fake or random SB figures. Psychological warfare :)

What is it Winston Churchill said? 'The truth is so precious it must be protected by a bodyguard of lies' or something like that.

I check game shape weekly. I'm already aware of Armada's dmi.

ready for call up:-)

He's under consideration. You should know I'm much more tolerant of older players than other NT managers. A lot won't pick over 33s.

I'm not really sure why there were so many fouls in that game. Its not really connected to shot blocking. As a team we don't generally foul that often against so called better teams, so why it should happen against a team ranked 70 I can't explain. Except to say, that during the first weeks of the season, before game shape has risen, more unexplainable things happen than when everyone has game shape under better control.

Bit of a return to form tonight. Some people might have raised eyebrows at the lineup if it had been seen in advance, but it worked out well enough.

Barker was the star offensively, as you might expect using motion. I did expect more from Gascoigne and Marshall, that was one of the reasons I moved them around today, but they didn't shoot as well as expected, though I think its fairly clear that the passing of the starting 5 as a whole was a factor throughout.

Defensively we were up against LI, and there was a possibility that O'Malley, their star man, could have been dominant but Marshall did well enough against him, and Innes was strong enough defensively to hold their C.

Overall I'm quite happy with how the game went, after last week's disappointment. We seem back on track. Obviously we have to aim for a 7-1 record now, though its hard to be too confident until we see the draw, but as always, I don't see the point of having low goals.

The draw has been made. Can't really complain about a random draw but since I'm a glass half empty kinda guy I'm still disappointed. The three away games are to our highest ranked opponents, one of which is a much bigger nation than ours. Rankings aren't always a guide but I think the schedule could have been easier, but equally it could have been much much worse. There are quite a few big BB nations in the consolation and we've avoided the biggest of them.
