That don't make sense either. He's a legendary shooter but can't make a FT for his life?

Does it make sense that a player is a legendary (30) free throw shooter but he only makes 70% of his free throws?

Or you should apply the same logic and having very high free throw skills should mean a higher FG percentage.

BTW, I dunno how it is now but players with FT1 used to shoot 0% of their free throws regardless of their JS. That was bizarre. One way to fix this was to code FT in a way that FT1 players would make 40%, not 0% of their shots. No need to mix JS in the equation.

BTW2: it is possible for a player have high FG% but low FT%. Take Ben Simmons for example. What is weird is having a guy who was supposed to shoot FTs like Stephen Curry but converts them like Blake Griffin.

I have a player whose FT is 6, JS is 12 and JR is 3 and he shoots 0.800, what is the logic? Tell me more about this big picture cause I really can't see it.

Ben Simmons has a Jump Range rating of 1. He doesn't shot 3 points and barely mid range.

Blake Griffin shot more and more 3pts and was somewhat serviceable, at least enough to stretch the defense. And he was a 70% career FT shooter. Far better than Simmons.

Yes, but Griffin's FT would be something like 7-8, not 30, and we have players who have 30FT and shoot FTs like FT7-8 players even if their JS and JR are far from low.

My point is that in BB there are players who were supposed to shoot FTs like Steve Nash which are shooting like Blake Griffin and that is completely nonsense.

My point is that in BB it doesn't matter if your player has FT 7 or FT 30, it is a matter of luck how they are going to perform at the free throw line, which makes FT completely random.

To me, JS/JR 10 with perfect FT technique makes sense to shoot 70%.

so if it doesn't matter if the FT is 30 (I agree 30 is ridiculous but still) and only JS/JR should count then just abolish FT... what's the point of keeping a skill which doesn't matter for its own sake?

but my point is that not only the 30FT player makes 70% but players with far lower FT (and with no special JS/JR combo) make way more than 70%!! that's nonsense!!!

it's not that I'm complaining that I had a 30RB player which only grabs 13 reb/game, because rebounding depends on the skills of the other players, but FT is the only skill that do not require comparison with other players skills! FT depends only on the player who is shooting, that's what makes this so bizarre.

Edit: the 30RB is hypothetical

But do consider the FT formula may use a MAX equation where once FT goes above JS/JR enough it no longer has a visible impact.

That would be wrong in so many levels... anyway, just noticed that some players have quite average FT and very low JS/JR and do shoot FTs better than the guy I started this thread about... I'm giving this discussion up, it's all about randomness, just avoid FT lower than 4 and the rest is up to luck.
